In case you’d rather provide your own enclosure the SBC-IOT-iMX7 single board computer is also available. Both the gateway and SBC have a 10-year availability.

IOT-GATE-iMX7 price starts at $107 for volume orders, and SBC-IOT-iMX7 at $85. You’ll find more details, including pricing for options, on IOT-GATE-iMX7 product page.

This thing looks really interesting even beyond the advertised use case. Just checked specs and pricing for my own needs:

    – PoE option is fully IEEE 802.3af compliant and adds $7
    – WiFi/BT option WAB adds $22 and is based on SDIO connected TI’s WL1837MOD capable of dual-band and dual-antenna 802.11a/b/g/n (so way better than crappy Wi-Fi on ‘normal’ SBC which is 2.4GHz and single antenna only)
    – dual-role (can act as both AP and client at the same time — If I understood correctly)
    – i.MX7 contains dual GbE MACs so hopefully the i.MX6 Ethernet design flaw (maxing out at approx. 400 Mbits/sec due to bus limitations) isn’t present any more
    – SoC’s single PCIe 2.1 lane available as mPCIe connector so useable with all sorts of add-on cards (eg. ASM1062 dual SATA controller)

Compulab’s prices above are for 1K orders, if you order less then it’s a simple multiplication (eg. 10 orders * 1.3, single unit * 1.4). So I would end up with $119 which translates to 150,-€ VAT/customs included for a single board to test through NAS/SAN performance. Worth a try 🙂

Is that the same company that makes those passively cooled mini PC’s? Judging from the ugly case, probably yes 🙂
