IBASE AGS100/AGS102 Smart IoT Gateway Targets Industrial Control and Factory Automation

IBASE has introduced AGS100 and AGS102 intelligent IoT gateways powered by an Intel Apollo Lake processor, and specifically geared towards industrial control and factory automation applications. AGS100 can be powered by Intel Atom processor E3950/ E3930 with extended operating temperature (-40°C to 70°C), Intel Pentium N4200, and Celeron N3350 processors (-20°C to 60°C), while AGS102 adds support for two RS232 ports and more GPIOs. After launching their ML350 customizable fanless industrial computer, Logic Supply is back with another Apollo Lake family of mini PCs – CL200 series – with a much more compact form factor (Ultra Small Form Factor), and equipped with an Intel Celeron N3350 processor. While there are plenty of low power x86 mini PCs running Windows 10, and although in most case it’s always possible to install a Linux distributions yourself, it’s much more difficult to find products that ships with Linux by default. Launched a few years ago, MintBox Mini and MintBox Mini Pro mini PCs are such options being powered by AMD A4 Micro-6400T and AMD A10 Micro-6700T processor respectively, and running Linux Mint. The Mint team has now announced upgraded versions with MiniBox Mint 2 and MiniBox Mini 2 Pro, both based on Intel Celeron J3455 quad core Apollo Lake processor, and just differing by the amount of memory and storage. MeLE PCG02 was introduced in 2015 with an Intel Atom Z3735F Bay Trail processor, and was one of the rare Windows TV sticks to include an Ethernet port. Later on, the company also launched PCG02U model with Ubuntu 14.04 instead. The company has now launched an upgraded version – PCG02 Apo – featuring an Intel Celeron N3450 quad core Apollo Lake processor,  4GB RAM, 32GB storage, as well as Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11ac WiFi connectivity. Diamond Systems, a Silicon valley based company providing embedded computing solutions for transportation, energy, aerospace, defense, manufacturing, medical and research market, has recently introduced Zeta single board computer comprised of a baseboard, a choice of COM Express Mini type 10 modules based on Intel Bay Trail or Apollo Lake processor, and a heatspreader for cooling. The company explains the small size and high feature density of the solution make it particularly suitable for mobile applications. We’ve just written about UP AI Core mPCIe card part of the new AI Edge family from UP Board, but other members will soon be released including UP Core Plus board, that builds upon UP Core Cherry Trail board launched last year, with a choice of Intel Atom x5/x7, and Celeron/Pentium Apollo Lake processors. The form factor is different, but just like the first UP Core board, the Core Plus board supports expansion boards via docking connectors such as the Net Plus Ethernet expansion, and the AI Plus expansion board with Intel Cyclone 10 GX FPGA. Most Intel based mini PCs use processors classified as ‘Mobile’ as these have lower thermal design power (TDP) ratings which is the maximum amount of heat generated by the processor: However, the new Vorke V1 Plus has incorporated a ‘Desktop’ processor namely the Intel Celeron J3455. On paper this processor looks like it should perform similar to the Intel Pentium N4200 processor but with a tradeoff between being a cheaper processor to purchase but more expensive to run due to the increased power requirements.
