Action Star Technology, a Taiwanese OEM/ODM of USB productivity solutions part of Qisda (BenQ group), has unveiled its USB4 penta-4K120 docking station at Computex 2023 with support for up to five 4K displays at a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The docking station is based on Synaptics chips, and besides support for up to five 4K displays, it can also handle up to three 8K displays at 60+ Hz, and offers Ethernet, audio, and 10 Gbps USB 3.2 interfaces. Following my post featuring Zenfone 2 Deluxe Special Edition smartphone with 256GB internal storage and 4GB RAM, I had an interesting discussion about mobile and desktop convergence, and we had different views on how this may pan out and what the consumers want, but we all basically agreed this was still work in progress. Another reader pointed me to his various attempts to conveniently connect his Android smartphone and tablet to a large monitor together with keyboard and mouse. USB Powered 18.5″ LED Monitor HannsG HU193

HannsG HU193 18.5″ LED monitor is showcased at IFA 2011 in Berlin until the 7th of September. This monitor can be powered by 2 USB 2.0 connectors or just 1 USB 3.0 connector as it consumes less than 1 Watt thanks to white LED backlight technology. The native resolution is 1366×768 and it should be available by Q2 2012 for around 149 Euros. Once you connect this monitor to your computer or laptop, the driver (DisplayLink) is automatically installed into your computer. The latest version of the driver for Windows is DisplayLink USB Graphics Windows Driver 5.6 M1. This driver is also available for MAC.
