WeTek Play Giveaway with DVB-S2 or DVB-C/T/T2 Tuner

WeTek Play is dual core set-top box officially supporting Android 4.4 and OpenELEC 5.0, and with support for several other Android or Linux distributions. I’ve recently written an updated review of WeTek Play with the latest Android 4.4 firmware, and it’s a pretty good device to watch Live TV either from the Internet via WeCloud Antenna app with over 180 free-to-air channels, or from satellite, cable or terrestrial TV thanks to the DVB-S2 or DVB-C/T/T2 tuner included in the box. EPG, PVR and timeshifting functions are all working very well, except some display issues with Asian languages.

The company proposed to give away two WeTek Play STB to CNX Software readers. My model comes with a DVB-S2 tuner, but winners will be able to chose either DVB-S2 or DVB-C/T/T2 tuner as per their preference.

Here’s what you have to do to enter the contest, and some terms and conditions:

  • To enter the contest simply leave a comment below
  • Only one entry per contest. I will filter out entries with the same IP and/or email address.
  • I’ll run the contest until January 4, 2015 10am (Bangkok Time)
  • Two winners will be selected with random.org
  • I’ll contact the winners by email, who have 24 hours to answer, or I’ll pick other ones.
  • The winners will then be put into contact with WeTek, which will organize shipping for free to the winners.
  • If the winners are based in Europe, shipping will take place from the company’s European warehouse, so you don’t have to worry about custom fees. For the rest of the world, it will be shipped from Hong Kong.

Good luck ! 🙂

  1. really like hearing the review of this box, especially two items that stuck out to me. a remote that works and works well is a rarity on stb’s. second was that the ota update worked upon selection. that had only occurred one other time on a phone i had recd. the same goods and bags are in every stb but those two items have won me Oct, though planned to purchase the stb in the near future. it would be nice to see atsc tuning available on such a stb, and rebating uncertain if i can attach a usb tuner to take advantage of the firmware to the fullest. the simple ui is also a refreshing change, would love to see it available as an apk for other boxes. great review overall. I’m sold.

  2. Nice to see a STB natively supporting OpenELEC. Would be nice to win one to test it out! 😉

  3. I have been reading a greal deal about this terrific device. As a freaktab forum member I , with many others are excited about the potential of this product. Keep up the good work for the customers that buy this tv box.

  4. Always wondered why more android box manufacturers didn’t incorporate a tuner, it can be mighty useful. A few of my customers may want to try that out.

  5. Another cool box. Would be very nice I reckon. Pick mecnx-software, WeTek and random.org. 🙂 🙂

  6. I’m in for android with dvb.

When we want to watch DVB-S/S2 first troubles are what about channels decrypting software? Today on modern tuners there are few of ways to watch crypted channels: original cards, cards sharing protocols over net, static keys. Interested what way android boxes will provide? It matters because fta content is always boring, so to make people buy such devices mftrs have to make something.

  7. at the moment, i have an satellite dish, but no receiver.. i planned to buy one next year, if all is ok.
Anyway, i wish you a very nice and happy New Year 2015 !

  8. The DVB-S2 box just looks so good! That would be the best holiday present ever if I could ever get it.

  9. I hope, Wetek addresses some issues that I read in previous article. and probably not only in software side but also the hardware.

  10. Proud owner of Raspberry-pi, mygica A11, 2 Tronsmart Prometheus (one bricked and the other on the way to be bricked..), Amlogic Smart TV BOX (g02ref), Cubox-i4ultra, Amlogic S802 MXQ S85, Tronsmart Vega 89 Elite…
