Last week, we started to read about Beelink X series mini PCs powered by Gemini Lake processors, and with a design similar to Intel NUC mini PCs.
Three models will be available at first with Beelink X45 Basic/Premium based on Intel Celeron J4105 processor with respectively 4GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB RAM/storage configurations, and Beelink X55 with a more powerful Intel Pentium Silver J5005 processor, 8GB RAM, and a 128GB SSD.
The Beelink X45 models have now showed up on GearBest with pricing starting at $219.99 shipped, but you can bring that down to just under $200 with GBmidyear2018 coupon. Beelink X45 Premium model sells for $259.99 before applying any coupon. [Update: Banggood lists Beelink X45 for $172.99 shipped]

The mini PCs run Windows 10 Home 64-bit, and ship with a power adapter, two HDMI cables (short: 20cm / long: 80cm ), a VESA/wall bracket, two bags of screws, and a user manual in English.
Beelink X series are not fanless mini PCs, and instead are equipped with a 3,800 RPM fan that rotates when heat dissipation is required, e.g. under heavy loads. You may find more information on Beelink products page, and the company’s own review of their products (now deleted, so it’s a cache).

So: 2.5″ SATA space and a M.2 SATA SSD slot … nice! The M.2 for the OS, and 2.5″ HDD for storage.
assuming this is strictly aimed at desktop / web / multimedia use, you can also get a cheaper kaby lake (early 2017) dual core celeron like the 3965U (dual core 2.2GHz, with virt & aes).
it is certainly less powerful than this gemini lake quad core, but absolutely enough for any of the tasks mentioned above.
sata3 / gbe / usb3 performances are as fast as my i5 gaming desktop.
i installed win10 on a basic ssd in under 12minutes, cpu only package is 5w (100% load), and it decodes youtube 4k video at 2w load (gpu accelerated).
if you need to know, fortnite runs at 15fps on medium/low but the load goes up to 12watts and fanless operation is not recommended (90°C)..

version Celeron 3965U 4K / no ram no ssd (no wifi) it was 80e at latest big sale.
It requires DDR3L ram, and did not boot with non L ram.
Build quality is nice, the only thing out of place is the power/hdd leds that are not visible (no holes) not even through the transparent power button..
Fanless heat dissipation will not be sufficient for 3D use (fortnite @ 12fps =), the cpu will go up to 95C, and internal 2.5″ SSD will prevent installing an internal fan.
One impressive thing is the bios which has every possible feature available, never seen a bios like that on a laptop hardware.
Also, be careful it is shipped with DHL express, so here in France it means mandatory customs taxes unfortunately, other seller probably offer regular shipping..
