ZOTAC Unveils ZBOX PRO Embedded Mini PC Line-up

ZOTAC  is known for their ZBOX consumer and business mini PCs, but they are now entering the embedded computing market with the launch of ZBOX PRO line-up based on their commercial offering but with more robust designs for medical equipment, industrial robots, casino game systems, IoT gateways, ATMs, and more.

Zotac ZBOX ProThe company launched 5 models features various Intel processors from Celeron to Core-i7, but I’ll focus on the three passively cooled low power models in this post.

ZBOX Pro CI329 nano

Zotac ZBOX PRO CI329 nano

Specifications mostly follow the ones of ZBOX CI329 Nano model with differences highlighted in bold or stricken-through:

  • SoC – Intel Celeron N4100 quad-core processor (1.1GHz up to 2.4GHz, 4MB cache) with Intel UHD Graphics 600
  • System Memory – 2x DDR4-2400MHz dual-channel SO-DIMM slots, up to 8GB
  • Storage
    • 1x 2.5″ SATA 6.0 Gb/s HDD/SSD bay
    • 1x M.2 2242/2260 key-M socket for SSD
    • SD/SDHC/SDXC card reader
  • Video Output
    • 1x HDMI 2.0, max resolution 4096×2160 @ 60Hz
    • 1x DisplayPort 1.2, max resolution 4096×2160 @ 60Hz

Zotac Gemini Lake Embedded mini PC

The Gemini Lake mini PC supports Microsoft Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, and ships with an L-shaped Mounting Kit (w/ 4 screws), a VESA mounting kit (w/ 4 screws), a dual-band antenna, a universal AC adapter, a power cord, and a USB flash drive with software & user’s manual.

The main difference with the consumer version is the USB 2.0 port being replaced by a serial port, support for M.2 SSD which provides better resistance to vibration than mechanical drives, and a rugged case that should offer better cooling, and protects the electronics from dust, i.e. no ventilation holes line in ZBOX CI329 nano.

ZBOX Pro CI330 nano

Zotac ZBOX PRO CI330 nanoThe Braswell embedded mini PC does not have a consumer (ZBOX CI330 nano does not exist) equivalent, and comes with the following specifications:

  • SoC – Intel Celeron N3160 quad-core processor (1.6GHz up to 2.24GHz, 2MB cache) with Intel HD Graphics 400
  • System Memory – 2x DDR3L-1600MHz dual-channel SO-DIMM slots, up to 8GB
  • Storage
    • 1x 2.5-inch SATA 6.0 Gb/s HDD/SSD bay
    • 1x M.2 2242/2260 key-M socket for SSD
    • SD/SDHC/SDXC card reader
  • Video Output
    • 2x HDMI 1.4, max resolution 3840×2160 @ 30Hz
    • 1x VGA, max resolution 1920×1200 @ 60Hz
  • Audio – 3.5mm Stereo out & Microphone combo
  • Connectivity – 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet,

  • USB Port – 1x USB 3.0 port, 2x USB 2.0 ports

ZBOX PRO PI335 pico

ZBOX PRO CI335 nano

This is the most company of ZBOX PRO mini PC, and like ZBOX Pro CI329 nano, ZBOX PRO PI335 pico mini PC is equipped with an Intel Celeron N4100 Gemini Lake processor.

  • SoC – Intel Celeron N4100 quad-core processor (1.1GHz up to 2.4GHz, 4MB cache) with Intel UHD Graphics 600
  • System Memory – 4GB LPDDR3 memory
  • Storage – 64GB eMMC flash memory, micro SDHC/SDHC card reader
  • Video Output
    • 1x HDMI 2.0, max resolution 4096×2160 @ 60Hz
    • 1x DisplayPort 1.2, max resolution 4096×2160 @ 60Hz
  • Audio – 3.5mm Stereo out & Microphone combo
  • Connectivity – 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet, 802.11ac/a/b/g/n WIFI 5, Bluetooth 5 with 2x SMA antenna sockets
  • USB Port – 3x USB 3.0 ports including 1x Type-C port

ZBOX PRO CI335 nano accessories

The main differences against the consumer version are the extra storage capacity (64GB vs 32GB), external WiFi/Bt antennas instead of internal one(s), and the rugged enclosure.

The mini PC supports Microsoft Windows 10, and Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, and ships with two dual-band antennas, a universal AC adapter, detachable AC plugs (EU, UK, US regions), a CTIA to OMTP adapter for headphones, and a USB flash with software & user’s manual.
