CHUWI Minibook Amber Lake mini Laptop to sell for $499 and Up (Crowdfunding)

We’ve already covered several Intel Amber Lake mini laptops with the likes of One Netbook One Mix 3 Yoga or GPD Pocket 2 Max both powered by Intel Core m3-8100Y and equipped with respectively 8.4″ and 8.9″ displays with 2560×1600 resolution. Those are ultra-compact yet powerful machines, which come at a relatively high cost, with for instance the Mix 3 Yoga going for about $760.

But there’s another model coming up with CHUWI minibook with similar specifications and an 8″ display that will be offered for as low as $499. The trick is that only 300 pieces part of the “Super Early Birds Perk” will be available at that price when the product launches on Indiegogo on June 19. The retail price should be around $669 since the discount is said to be around 25%. There will also be a cheaper Intel Celeron N4100 Gemini Lake model, but price has not been announced.

CHUWI Minibook Keyboard
CHUWI’s mini laptop will come with Windows 10, but it should be possible to install Linux distributions like Ubuntu either on the eMMC flash or in an M.2 SSD. The company also uploaded a video presenting the device, and showing it in action with photoshop, games, and so on.

If you are interested in the device at the advertised $499 price, you may want to register your email address on their mailing list to be alerted of the Indiegogo launch. You could also leave a comment there, as the company will draw 3 winners from the list of commenters who will receive a free CHUWI Minibook each.

    1. Not really because it doesn’t have a SD card slot. If you use an external USB card reader plus an external USB hard drive then the copy speed will not be sufficient for a device with a price tag 500/700usd. There are cheaper solutions specifically made for photo backup in the field. I’m a photographer and look for a similar solution to backup my cards during travels.

  1. Wait, what, is this true “You could also leave a comment there, as the company will draw 3 winners from the list of commenters who will receive a free CHUWI Minibook each.”? :))

    1. It should be. There are over 2,000 comments though, and they’ll only give 3 minibooks away, so odds are not that great.

  2. Having one could very well replace my current note 9 as my daily workhouse with a bigger screen, more processing power, full access to win32 apps and a keyboard proper.

  3. This model seem good. but when i check and search by google. i found that another model which call onemix 1s look better than this one.
1s seem better quality , also i like the stylus pen design. storage chose better than mini book. the most important is~~ it cheaper than mini book~~~

  4. Just like to say, if it’s has good performance as GPD P2 MAX ultrabook but with same price, maybe I can consider.
