  1. Love the form factor. I thought they would choose the Silicon Labs EFR32MG21 (with thread/matter support) or the newer EFR32MG24 chips. The EFR32MG22 does not seem to support for thread/matter.

  2. My understanding is that modules that don’t require a neutral wire consume a bit more power when idle. Is there anything known around its power consumption?

  3. While features full, I still think its a lot of complications for switch. I have no, better solution to offer. All written is IMO.

  4. God send for retro fitting light circuits its ziggbee and no neutral needed and for that purpose nothing else needs to be said.

  5. Seems a few people here do not understand the highlight of this article… “Does not require a neutral wire” means the sonoff device does not require a neutral wire, not the light switch. As we’re all moving towards smart devices one of the biggest hurdles has been implementing power to the (in-line) controlling unit, in this case the sonoff device (not the globe). Yes a physical switch will CUT the power from reaching the globe, but a smart switch is a device of its own and will normally need its own power supply to receive signal etc etc, which consist of power in (+) and power out (-)…. Negative and positive are both still active lines, electricity flows like water, imagine all devices in your home run from a water wheel…. It needs an outlet to flow, hence why it’s called a current. The fact they have figured out how to make this run without a neutral is amazing, saves us a lot of time finding how to run a wire to a light switch that has never required one because we’ve only ever CUT the red line (positive power), which stops the wheel from turning 😉

  6. After buying these, two died after about 10 minutes of use. Replaced with the Sonoff MiniR2 which works flawlessly.
