Beelink EQ14 mini PC features Intel N150 quad-core “Twin Lake” processor, built-in power supply

Last month we noted the Intel Processor N150, Processor N250, and Core i3-N355 Alder Lake-N Refresh CPUs were found in the upcoming ASUS NUC 14 Essential mini PC family, but availability was unclear. The Beelink EQ14 is the first Intel N150 mini PC which can be purchased today on either AliExpress (with EU plug) or Amazon for $182 and up for Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2024.

Beelink calls the CPU family “Twin Lake” instead of “Alder Lake-N Refresh”, but we can’t confirm that since the N150 has not been officially launched yet and it’s not listed on Intel Ark. The computer is equipped with 16GB DDR4 memory, a 512GB NVMe SSD, two HDMI ports, two gigabit Ethernet ports, WiFi 6, etc… It also comes with a more unusual feature: a built-in AC power supply, something we previously saw in the Beelink EQ13 with an Intel N200/N100 CPU.

Beelink EQ14 Mini PC with dual M.2 NVMe SSD built-in power supply

The Beelink EQ14 mini PC comes preloaded with Windows 11 Pro and ships with a power cord (US, EU, UK, JP, or AU), a one-meter HDMI cable, and a user manual.

We also have some performance metrics with Beelink sharing an illustration pitting the Intel N150 against the popular Intel N100 CPU and showing an 11% performance improvement in 3Dmark Time Spy, and a cool 33% improvement in Cinebench R23 multi-core benchmarks. That’s a bigger delta than expected for the latter, and time (and testing) will tell whether it comes from improved cooling and increased power limits, or some architectural changes besides just a slightly higher CPU clock (3.6GHz vs 3.4GHz).

So it’s basically an N97 with a gimped N100-style GPU. Why did they even bother releasing this?

No, it’s basically an N100 with +200 MHz clock speed. The TDP remains the same. Maybe power consumption will go up to match, who knows until it gets reviewed. As for why, Intel doesn’t feel the need to advance this segment right now, or they can’t find a new node cheap (or reliable) enough to make a Skymont-only SoC on. I doubt they will ever be making these Atom chips at TSMC. I guess they are using a new stepping that enables the clock bumps, and even if they are a low margin product, these use up fab capacity that… Read more »

A unique, proprietary power supply is a liability.

Happy EQ12 user here, and you know why I’m happy? Because it had 2.5GbE ports and allows me to run my entire home network with it.

Why on earth a downgrade to 1gbps ports instead of an upgrade to 10gbe base-T?

Useless, I’d way prefer my EQ12

None of these mini pc can be powered and conected to my lenovo and dell usb-c docking stations. Some of the are just powered. I don’t get it why the hell noone is letting power via USB hub and use of it’s capabilities.

Where did you get source on HDMI 2.1? AFAIK, this will be another 2.0 because Beelink does not specify it either on their website, amazon or aliexpress. They would very proudly present it as 2.1 if it truly had this better version. For those who think it is minor difference – although HDMI 2.0 can display 4k at 60Hz, it is limited to 18Gbps and can’t do it with 10Bit colours which would be handy for most of HDR content. These mini PCs look like great HTPC (quiet, small) but in the end not suitable because it usually lacks proper… Read more »
