AAEON provides support for Windows 10 64-bit and Ubuntu 22.04.3 with Linux Kernel 6.2 for the de next-RAP8 SBC. Those are not exactly the latest versions of the Windows/Ubuntu operating systems, but the company may have been conservative as it’s the advertised version for the drivers.
The de next credit card-sized SBC family was introduced in 2022 with the de next-TGU8 and de next-V2K8 models powered by 15W Intel Core Tiger Lake and AMD Embedded V2000 SoCs, respectively, and the de next-RAP8 brings that to another level with 15W, 13th Gen Intel Raptor Lake processors.
It’s impossible to sufficiently cool a 15W processor on a small credit card/Raspberry Pi-sized SBC with a heatsink, so the de next-RAP8 relies on the DENEXT-FAN01 fansink solution with a large heatsink covering the complete bottom side of the board and integrated with a cooling fan.
The smallest Raptor Lake SBCs we previously covered were all based on the Pico-ITX form factor (100×72 mm) with products like the DFI RPP051 and AAEON PICO-RAP4. It’s quite possible PL1 and PL2 power limits need to be adjusted lower for the de next-RAP8 to work optimally.
The samples of the board are sold for $750 for the Core i3 model, $867 for the Core i5 variant, and $1,267 is asking for for the high-end Core i7 model. The product page has more details, including a datasheet, a user manual, the BIOS for the board, as well as Windows and Linux drivers, plus the purchase links.
