System76 Meerkat Linux mini PC gets Raptor Lake or Arrow Lake upgrade up to Intel Core Ultra 7 255H processor

System76’s Meerkat Linux mini PC family has been around for many years, and last time we covered it, the company offered it with a choice of Alder Lake processors, and Ubuntu 22.04 or Pop!_OS 22.04 operating systems.

The latest iteration of the Meerkat Linux mini PC is now powered by the newest generation Raptor Lake or Arrow Lake processors up to the Intel Core Ultra 7 255H and ships with Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS with built-in encryption, Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, or Ubuntu 24.04 LTS distributions.

20 Gbps USB-C ports are not that common…

There used to be a short and tall model for the Meer7 model, but the new Meer10 model only offers the tall variant because it supports expansion modules like the 2.5GbE add-on shown above. Another change is that the 3.5mm audio jack is now gone, so audio is only available through the HDMI/USB4 ports (or Bluetooth).

The Meerkat mini PC is designed to be easily expandable and repairable with M.2 sockets for storage and wireless modules, SO-DIMM memory, and support for add-ons. The company also makes sure the SSDs are kept cool with thermal pads placed on the metal top cover.

The Meerkat Raptor Lake/Arrow Lake Linux mini PC starts at $599 in its minimal configuration with an Intel Core i3 100U CPU, 16GB of RAM, a 500GB NVMe SSD, a WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 module, and a one-year warranty. You can ask System76 to remove the wireless module, but you won’t save any money as the price remains the same with or without the module. The top configuration with an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H CPU, 96GB RAM, a 4TB PCIe Gen5 SSD, a 2TB PCIe Gen4 SSD, and a three-year warranty sells for $2510.
