$14 development board features GUITION ESP32-P4 + ESP32-C6 module

While searching Aliexpress for new products, I found out about the JC-ESP32P4-M3-DEV from the Maker Go AliExpress store, another ESP32-P4 development board with features very similar to the  ESP32-P4-Function-EV-Board or the Wireless Tag WT99P4C5-S1 board, but built around the GUITION JC-ESP32P4-M3-C6 module, which combines ESP32-P4 and ESP32-C6 into a single package instead of having separate chips or modules on most other designs.

Features include 32MB of PSRAM and 16MB of flash on the GUITION module, a microSD card slot for storage, a built-in microphone, speaker output via the ES8311 audio codec, and an audio amplifier. The board also offers a 10/100Mbps Ethernet RJ45 port, an RS-485 terminal block, a GPIO header, and expansion connectors for both the ESP32-P4 and ESP32-C6 chips. Additionally, there are three USB ports: two USB-C and one USB-A for power, data, and debugging, along with a few buttons and LEDs.

JC-ESP32P4-M3-DEV evolution board hardware overview

What makes this board unique is that both the ESP32-P4 and the ESP32-C6 chips are housed inside the same GUITION JC-ESP32P4-M3-C6 module. Having said that, it’s not the first board with this type of module, and the ESP32-P4-Module-DEV-KIT features a similar “ESP32-P4-Module” module that also integrates an ESP32-C6. However, what we know from Waveshare is that they faced issues with PlatformIO support for ESP32-P4 due to the need for Arduino-esp32 SDK V3.1x compatibility. MicroPython firmware runs basic commands, but full peripheral support was still under development.

Unfortunately, that is the most information I was able to get from the AliExpress listing. I was also able to track the original manufacturer of the board to Shenzhen Jingcai Intelligent Co., Ltd. whose website listed both the development board and the module. There, you’ll find a download link on Baidu with datasheet (6 pages), schematics, user guides, example code for both Arduino IDE, ESP IDF, and more.

The JC-ESP32P4-M3-DEV evolution board is available for $14 on both the Maker Go AliExpress Shop and the GUITION official store, but the latter will be more expensive due to more limited shipping options.  The JC-ESP32P4-M3-C6 module sells for about $6 for single-unit orders, again excluding shipping.

  1. Would be nice to have a simular module that instead combine ESP32-S3 and ESP32-C6 to make Thread/Zigbee to WiFi bridges and such
