M5Stack Air Quality Kit v1.1 is an ESP32-S3-based air quality monitor equipped with Sensirion SEN55 and SCD40 sensors capable of monitoring PM1.0, PM2.5, PM4, PM10 particulates, temperature, humidity, VOC, and CO2 concentration in the air.
The first version was introduced in January 2024, but M5Stack just introduced the v1.1 model with Stamp-S3A master control, power consumption optimizations, an improved Wi-Fi antenna design, and a larger button for a “better feel”.

The factory firmware shows sensor data on the E-Ink display and supports uploading air quality data to the M5Stack Ezdata cloud platform for a convenient remote data viewing function. It can also be programmed with UiFlow2 visual programming IDE, the Arduino IDE, PlatformIO, and the ESP-IDF framework. The documentation website has instructions to get started with the Air Quality Kit, a few tutorials, and more technical details.

While it’s the first device we’ve covered with both SEN55 and SCD40 sensors, Sparfun’s “Indoor Air Quality Combo Sensor” comes quite close with SEN55 and SCD41sensors, albeit you’d need a host microcontroller to use it, while the M5Stack device works in standalone mode. If you only need an SCD40 or SCD41 sensor, the MoreSense MS-06 air quality monitor is another ESP32-S3 solution with a color display.
The Air Quality Kit v1.1 can be purchased for $89.90 on AliExpress or M5Stack’s store.
