It turns out we don’t have two, but three companies offering free samples on CNX Software this year. The last one is a regular, and RAKwireless joins us for the fifth year running with a Blues.ONE LoRaWAN, LTE-M, and NB-IoT devkit that can be useful for industrial automation and asset-tracking applications.
Regular readers may recall that it is the same prize as last year. While I usually prefer getting a new devkit, the company didn’t launch any this year (just some Meshtastic kits). The good news is that if you missed out last time around, you have a chance to give it another go.
Here’s what the winner will get as a reminder:
- RAK4631 WisBlock Core Module based on
- Nordic Semi nRF52840 Arm Cortex-M4F microcontroller @ 64 MHz with 1 MB Flash, 256 KB RAM, Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0 protocol stack
- Semtech SX1262 LoRa Transceiver with LoRaWAN 1.0.2 protocol stack
- RAK19007 WisBlock Base Board with 4x sensor slots, 1x IO slot, a USB Type-C port, a rechargeable battery connector, and a solar panel connector
- RAK13102 WisBlock IO module with M.2 connector for Blues Notecard V1 or V2
- Blues Notecard NBGL-500
- Supports LTE-M, NB-IoT, and GSM networks
- Bundled with 500MB of cellular data valid for up to 10 years. No cellular subscriptions, SIM fees, or monthly minimums apply.
- Global coverage for LTE-M and/or NB-IoT
- External LTE antenna – GPS antenna, LoRa antenna, BLE antenna
- USB-C to USB-A cable
You’ll find a location tracker firmware with source code (Arduino) and instructions to get started on GitHub.

To enter the draw, simply leave a comment with your country and whatever else you’d like to say (no links in the body of the comment). If the country is missing, I’ll consider the entry void. Other rules are as follows:
- Only one entry per contest. I will filter out entries with the same IP and/or email address.
- Contests are open for 48 hours starting at 10 am (Bangkok time) every day.
- Comments will be closed after 48 hours. If comments are open, the contest is still going on.
- Winners will be selected with random.org, and announced in the comments section of each giveaway.
- I’ll contact the winner by email, and I’ll expect an answer within 24 hours, or I’ll pick another winner. Note that I may not be able to contact people who log in with Facebook, Twitter, or Google, so it’s better to use an email address to enter the draw.
- Shipping
- RAKwireless will handle shipping, so the winner does not have anything to pay except potential customs duties or tariffs.
- The giveaway is global and open to all, except for readers based in Thailand, since RAKwireless is offering a second Blues.ONE devkit on CNX Software Thailand, and you should apply there if you’d like to have the kit shipped to Thailand.
- I’ll make sure we have 7 different winners, so if you have already won a device during this giveaway week, I’ll draw another person.
Good luck to all! Thank you to all who participated this year.
The Blues.ONE devkit can also be purchased on the RAKwireles store for $106 and up, depending on whether you add an optional enclosure and/or battery.

209 entries is quite better than last year’s 180 entries for the same prize.
Time to visit random.org for one last time this year: #93.
Congratulations michael! I’ll contact you shortly by email.
