The company provides support for Windows and Linux, and says the AMD Ryzen Embedded 8840U COM Express Type 6 module targets industrial automation & control, medical imaging & diagnostics, Edge AI & machine vision, transportation & smart infrastructure, as well as digital signage & gaming.
Evaluation and early software development can be done using SolidRun HoneyComb Ryzen R8000 Mini-ITX carrier board with two SATA ports, one M.2 PCIe Gen4 x4 socket on carrier, two 2.5GbE RJ45 ports, a PCIe x16 slot (8x active lanes), HDMI 2.0, 2x mini DP, and a 50-pin eDP connector, as well as a standard ATX connector and a few other headers for USB, GPIO, PWM, fan, etc…

It’s not quite the first Ryzen Embedded 8000 platform from the company, as they introduced the Bedrock R8000 industrial PC last year. We also covered at least one other similar COM Express Type 6 module in September 2024 with the congatec conga-TCR8.
SolidRun says the Ryzen 8840U module is “Launching soon”, and we don’t have pricing information. A few more details about the Ryzen R8000 CoM6 COM Express module and HoneyComb carrier board can be found on the product page.
