At CES 2026, Sapphire Technology introduced the EDGE+VPR-7P132, an “AMD Embedded+” Mini-ITX motherboard built around AMD’s newly announced Ryzen AI Embedded P100 series of SoCs, namely the hexa-core Ryzen P132 (V4526iX) CPU, and an AMD Versal AI Edge Gen 2 VE3558 SoC FPGA, which features octa-core Arm Cortex-A78AE + ten Cortex-R52 real-time cores beyond FPGA fabric.
It’s the first AMD Ryzen AI Embedded motherboard we’ve seen. It represents a massive update from last year’s Edge+ VPR-5050 motherboard, which relied on Zen 2-based Ryzen Embedded V2000 series and first-generation Versal silicon. The new VPR-7P132 skips multiple generations, jumping straight to Zen 5 CPU cores and RDNA 3.5 graphics, with an upgraded Versal Gen 2 adaptive Edge AI SoC for real-time inference, along with faster LPDDR5 (4266MHz) memory and 40 Gbps USB4 connectivity.

In the specification section of the products page, Sapphiretech mentions “AMD Ryzen AI Embedded P132” as the APU, but on the datasheet, the company writes it as “AMD Ryzen AI Embedded V4526iX.” This could be an internal codename used during the development process, or it may be the name for the “AMD Ryzen AI Embedded P132 + AMD Versal AI Edge VE3558” combination.
On the software side, the AMD Embedded+ mini-ITX motherboard officially supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL/CentOS) 7.9, RHEL 8.2-8.6, and Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. For solutions with specific industrial and automotive requirements, the platform is also compatible with Yocto Linux, QNX, and VxWorks. The hybrid architecture is designed so the Ryzen AI Embedded processor handles high-level application processing like the operating system, networking, and visualization, whereas the Versal AI Edge Gen 2 SoC is dedicated to real-time tasks such as sensor ingress and AI inference.

Sapphire also mentions a dedicated I/O daughter board that connects to the 250-pin expansion socket, which adds support for 12 cameras (GMSL2), CAN-FD, and additional display outputs for automotive or industrial robotics applications.
At the time of writing, the company has not disclosed any pricing or availability details for the EDGE+ VPR-7P132, and you have to contact SAPPHIRE directly for quotations. More information is available on the product page and the press release.
