PocketBeagle 2 SBC gets industrial version with 1GB RAM, 64GB eMMC flash

The PocketBeagle 2 Industrial is an update to the PocketBeagle 2 Rev A1 SBC featuring 1GB DDR4 RAM, a 64GB eMMC flash, and industrial temperature range support. The original board only comes with 512MB DDR4 memory, an eMMC flash footprint (unpopulated), and commercial temperature range support.

Apart from those changes, the other specifications remain the same, with a Texas Instruments AM6254 quad-core Cortex-A53 SoC, an MSPM0L1105 Cortex-M0+ microcontroller, a microSD card slot, a USB-C port, UART and JTAG debugging support, and two 36-pin GPIO headers. Another difference is that the PCB is red for the PocketBeagle 2 Industrial (like the BeagleBone Black Industrial 4G), while the PocketBeagle 2 features a black PCB.

    • Dual-core Programmable Real-Time Unit Subsystem (PRUSS) running up to 333 MHz
    • Dedicated Device/Power Manager
    • Security – Secure boot and Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) supported
  • Secondary MCU – Texas Instruments MSPM0L1105 Arm Cortex-M0+ microcontroller running at 32 MHz with 32KB flash, 4KB SRAM, 12-bit ADC, etc…

PocketBeagle 2 Industrial

The PCB layout has not changed at all, so we’re still redirected to the same hardware design files as the PocketBeagle 2 (Rev A1).  The product page for the industrial board does not have links to the documentation and OS image yet, but everything should still be the same as for the PocketBeagle 2, although different Device Tree bindings may be needed for the RAM and eMMC flash. You can refer to the Quick Start Guide for the PocketBeagle 2 to get started and find OS images based on Debian 13 IoT (non-graphical) with the latest Linux 6.18 or 6.19 kernel, or Texas Instruments’ Linux 6.12 kernel.

The PocketBeagle 2 Industrial is currently sold for about $50 on Digikey, where they have around 5,800 units in stock. For reference, the PocketBeagle 2 sells for $29.90, so the higher capacity DDR4 chip, 64GB eMMC flash, and industrial-grade components add roughly $20 to the price.
