Digi International Digi IX25 is a rugged, industrial 5G cellular router designed for critical and enterprise applications. Built around a 1.2 GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 processor, this router combines cellular networking, edge computing, remote management, and secure connectivity into a single device, simplifying deployment across utilities, oil & gas, transportation, kiosks, ATMs, and digital signage.
The platform comes in multiple variants, including 5G eMBB (Enhanced Mobile Broadband), 5G RedCap (Reduced Capability), and LTE-only, with some models supporting Wi-Fi 6E and others not. Other features, including dual SIM + eSIM for remote provisioning, four Gigabit Ethernet ports, GNSS, serial, and GPIOs, stay the same across all varieties. It is designed for harsh environments with −40°C to 75°C operation and certifications like C1D2, ATEX, and MIL-STD-810H.

The industrial router is available in both 5G eMBB (Enhanced Mobile Broadband) and 5G RedCap (Reduced Capability) options, for different application scenarios. eMBB is basically what most people simply call “5G” and is designed for high-bandwidth applications such as video streaming, digital signage, and enterprise connectivity with maximum data throughput and ultra-low latency, which obviously increases hardware costs and power consumption. In contrast, RedCap is designed specifically for industrial IoT and edge deployments, with reduced complexity (often using 1 or 2 antennas instead of 4), which significantly reduces module costs, saves space, and lowers power consumption for applications such as telemetry, smart utilities, kiosks, and remote monitoring.
To clarify everything, Digi offers the IX25 in five distinct variants to fit different applications’ needs:
- IX25-5A-1G – 5G eMBB with Wi-Fi 6E
- IX25-RA-1G – 5G RedCap with Wi-Fi 6E
- IX25-RA-0G – 5G RedCap (no Wi-Fi)
- IX25-4A-1G – LTE Cat 4 with Wi-Fi 6E
- IX25-4A-0G – LTE Cat 4 (no Wi-Fi)

The Digi IX25 runs Digi Accelerated Linux (DAL OS) and is managed via Digi Remote Manager (cloud-based) with support for SNMP v1/v2c/v3, Web UI (HTTPS), and CLI over SSH or serial. It supports Linux containers based on LXC, exposed through Digi Containers, which acts as a managed service layer for deploying and running applications, along with Python support for edge workloads. It also has support for various tools such as SFTP, SCP, Syslog, and PCAP-based protocol analysis, as well as networking features like WAN bonding, SureLink, and policy-based routing. Additionally, it integrates with the Digi 360 ecosystem for OTA updates, lifecycle management, open APIs, and AI-enabled management via the MCP server. More information can be found on the support page and in the getting started guide.
The Digi IX25 rugged, industrial 5G cellular router is available through Digi’s global sales channels and authorized partners. Pricing has not been disclosed and will vary depending on the selected variant. The company also talks about a Digi 360 subscription that bundles the hardware with access to Digi Remote Manager, a warranty, and 24/7 customer care. More information can be found on the product page and the press release.
