Waveshare ESP32-C6-Zero-B – A tiny ESP32-C6 USB-C board with 5V-36V wide supply voltage

Waveshare ESP32-C6-Zero-B is a variant of the company’s ESP32-C6-Zero USB-C board that adds 5V-36V wide supply voltage support for industrial applications

It’s based on the ESP32-C6FH8 wireless RISC-V SoC with 8MB flash, 2.4 GHz WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.x LE, and an 802.15.4 radio for Zigbee and Thread. It also exposes up to 20 GPIOs via headers and pads, and features an RGB LED, as well as Boot and Reset buttons.

ESP32-C6-Zero-B

Waveshare mentions support for the ESP-IDF framework, Arduino, and MicroPython, and provides basic instructions to get started on the documentation website, along with additional hardware documentation.

We recently featured its little 5V-only brother, the ESP32-C6-Zero, in our article about the OpenC6 BIOS project, which brings a BIOS-like interface to configure peripherals of the ESP32-C6 SoC and enable features like network boot. But any generic firmware for the ESP32-C6 should work, especially since most pins are software configurable based on the pinout diagram below.

Note that there have been complaints about the range of this type of ceramina antenna used in the ESP32-C6-Zero-B in the past, so if the range is important to you, you’ll want an external antenna, or potentially perform a little antenna hack.

Waveshare sells the ESP32-C6-Zero-B for about $6-$7 on AliExpress and $5.99/$6.99 on the company’s store, depending on where you need pre-soldered headers. It may also soon become available on Waveshare’s Amazon store, but right now, only the 5V-only version is sold there.
