Jetway has introduced the SMC-ARK1, a new SMARC system-on-module built around the Rockchip RK3588 octa-core processor. Designed for embedded computing and edge AI applications, the board includes up to 16GB of LPDDR4x memory and up to 128GB of eMMC flash, dual GbE, and an Ampak AP6398SV Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 module, alongside a dedicated HDMI input via an I-PEX FPC connector.
We’ve previously written about the Geniatech SOM-3568-SMARC module based on the Rockchip RK3568, but Jetway’s SMC-ARK1 appears to be the first SMARC module we’ve seen based on the Rockchip RK3588. The module follows the SMARC 2.1 short form-factor specification (82 × 50 mm) and can be used with compatible SMARC carrier boards.
Jetway SMC-ARK1 specifications:
- SoC – Rockchip RK3588 octa-core processor with
- System Memory – 8 GB or 16 GB LPDDR4x at 4266MT/s
- Storage – 64GB or 128GB eMMC flash
- Video Input – HDMI input via I-PEX FPC connector
- Networking
- Realtek RTL8111HS and RTL8111F Gigabit Ethernet controllers
- Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 via an Ampak AP6398SV module and two MHF antenna connectors (note: photo above shows unannounced AP6885SY module)
- Interfaces via 314-pin MXM edge connector (some info recovered from blurry block diagram below)
- Storage
- SATA (including SATA0 muxed with PCIe in places)
- SDIO0/SDMMC
- Networking – 2x Gigabit Ethernet
- Display
- HDMI 2.1 / eDP (MULTI0 and MULTI1)
- USB 3.0 / DP 1.4 Alt mode
- MIPI DSI
- Camera – Multiple MIPI CSI camera inputs (CSI0/1/2/3 style labeling)
- USB
- Multiple USB 2.0 Host ports (HOST0, HOST1)
- Type-C ports (TYPEC0, TYPEC1) with OTG support (OTG0, OTG1)
- USB 3.0 / DP 1.4 (multiplexed)
- PCIe – Multiple PCIe 2.0 ports (PORT0, PORT1, with mux options)
- Low-speed I/O – GPIO, I2C, SPI, UART
- Storage
- Misc – Watchdog timer (255 levels); Wake-on-LAN (WoL) support
- Power – +4V input (Buck converter → SMARC Goldfinger → PMIC RK806 + discrete power)
- Dimensions – 82×50 mm as per SMARC 2.1 specification
- Temperature Range – Operating – 0°C to 60°C; Storage – -20°C to 70°C.
Note: Standard SMARC 2.1 specifications typically require a power supply of 3.0V to 5.25V (often standardized at 5V). A +4V rail requirement is within range, but unusual for a standard SMARC carrier board and might indicate a typo or a very strict internal power design limitation on Jetway’s end.

The SMC-ARK1 supports Android 12, Debian 11 with Linux 5.10, Ubuntu 22.04, and HarmonyOS. At the time of writing, the RK3588-based SMARC core board is available in three configurations: 8GB LPDDR4x with 64GB eMMC (SMC-ARK1-358886A1), 8GB LPDDR4x with 128GB eMMC (SMC-ARK1-358888A1), and 16GB LPDDR4x with 128GB eMMC (SMC-ARK1-358898A1).
While the Jetway SMC-ARK1 is the first short-size (82 x 55mm) SMARC 2.1 module based on Rockchip RK3588 we’ve seen, full-size ( 82 x 80mm) SMARC 2.1 modules include the Giada IM1-707, Advantech ROM-6881, and others.
Like for all other Jetway products, pricing and availability information have not been officially disclosed. Additional details, including mechanical dimensions and detailed block diagrams, can be found on the product page.
