Makerfabs MaUWB for Home Assistant is an ESP32-S3-based Ultra-Wideband (UWB) module designed for indoor positioning and Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS). It runs ESPHome for Home Assistant integration, enabling it to be used as part of a UWB-based positioning system to track tagged devices in homes, offices, and other indoor environments. The module combines an ESP32-S3 with a MaUWB UWB module based on the Qorvo DW3000, featuring a PA/LNA for long-range ranging. Compared to the earlier ESP32-S3 version, it drops the OLED and adds a WIZnet W5500 Ethernet controller that supports PoE. The module also supports Wi-Fi 4 and Bluetooth 5.0, and comes in an enclosure for fixed installations. The board supports 100Mbps Ethernet with PoE, MIPI-CSI, MIPI-DSI, USB 2.0 OTG, audio codec + amplifier, microphone, MicroSD card slot, and 40-pin GPIO expansion. Waveshare ESP32-P4-ETH is a compact ESP32-P4 development board with Ethernet and PoE support, which looks very similar to the Olimex ESP32-P4-DevKit minus the pUEXT connector. However, we’ve also covered other ESP32-P4 boards with Ethernet (and other features) such as the ESP32-P4-Module-DEV-KIT, the ESP32-P4-NANO board, and the GUITION JC-ESP32P4-M3-DEV. Compared to similar boards like M5Stack M5PoECAM-W V1.1 and the Waveshare ESP32-S3-ETH, this board features 17 usable GPIO, active PoE (IEEE 802.3af) with 700mA power delivered, built-in USB-UART, and pin-to-pin compatibility across Stick-Cam boards. Built around the ESP32-S3 SoC, this module supports OV2640 and OV5640 cameras and integrates the W5500 Ethernet controller and Si3404-A PoE chip for power and connectivity. Seeed Studio has recently announced the XIAO W5500 Ethernet Adapter with Power over Ethernet (PoE) support and built around the XIAO ESP32S3 Plus WiFi and Bluetooth module, and a WIZnet W5500 10/100 Mbps Ethernet SPI controller. PoE is implemented through an MQ7813T120 module and a 5V regulator with a TPS563201 buck converter.
