ACRN is an Open Source Hypervisor Built for IoT Device Development

ACRN – pronounced “acorn” – is an open source reference hypervisor with a small footprint, real-time capabilities, adaptability with support for Linux, Android, and RTOS guest operating systems, built for safety critical code in mind, and specifically designed for IoT and embedded devices. The project is managed / supported by the Linux Foundation. We has seen several announcements for products based on the latest Intel Gemini Lake processors at CES 2018 and after with devices such as ASRock J4105-ITX motherboard, or ECS LIVA Z2 mini PC, as well as some leaks for Gemini Lake laptops, but so far I could not find any devices sold on Chinese online sellers like Aliexpress or GearBest. UP Core Plus Board To Support AI Plus FPGA and AI Net Ethernet Expansion Boards

We’ve just written about UP AI Core mPCIe card part of the new AI Edge family from UP Board, but other members will soon be released including UP Core Plus board, that builds upon UP Core Cherry Trail board launched last year, with a choice of Intel Atom x5/x7, and Celeron/Pentium Apollo Lake processors. Last month, we got news of Gemini Lake motherboards by ASRock, and GIGABYTE. The former provided decent technical details about their boards, but the latter basically published a more-or-less useless press release about their upcoming J/N motherboards (e.g. J4005N D2P) with very few technical details.
