GOLE F7 is a rugged Windows 10 Pro tablet with a 10.1″ touchscreen display, an Intel Atom x5-Z8350 Cherry Trail processor, and “triple-proofed” with resistance to shocks, waterproofness, and dustproofness (see full specs). The tablet also comes with various features that can be useful to industrial use cases. The company sent me a sample fitted with 4G, a QR and bar code scanner, and a fingerprint print, as well as a separate charging dock. I’ll first have a look at the device and its hardware features in the first part of the review before trying it out with Windows 10 Pro in the second part that will focus on special features and ruggedness. The tablet comes with a rubber cover to protect all sides. All ports are covered to make the tablet dust-and-waterproof, and I could easily pull those to reveal USB, Ethernet and a COM port on one side… … a 3.5mm audio jack, micro HDMI port, micro USB […]

NXP LS1043A quad-core Cortex-A53 communication processor was introduced in 2014, while NXP LS1046A quad-core Cortex-A72 SoC was launched about 18 months later. Both are designed for networking equipment such as CPE (Customer Premise Equipment), routers, NAS, gateways, as well as single board computers and include one or two 10 GbE interfaces. Forlinx Embedded has decided to leverage those two processors in their OK1043A-C and OK1046A industrial-grade single board computers designed for networking applications. Both boards are comprised of the same baseboard and only differ by their COM-Express Mini Type 10 module which comes with the processor, memory, and flash storage. Specifications: COM Express Mini System-on-Module (one or the other) FET1046A-C NXP LS1046A SoM CPU – NXP LS1046A quad-core Cortex-A72 processor @ up to 1.8GHz System Memory – 2GB DDR4 RAM Storage – 8GB eMMC flash + 16MB QSPI NOR Flash Voltage Input – 12V Temperature Range – -40℃ to +75℃ Dimensions – 84 x 55mm FET1043A-C LS1043A SoM […]
We reported about Spreadtrum SC9863 processor for 4G LTE smartphones last year, as it was the first SoC we had seen made only of Cortex-A55 cores. Since then several phones have launched with the processor, now sold under UNISOC company name, such as the $83 Doogee N10 smartphone, but today I also noticed a tablet based on the processor. Teclast P10S comes with a 10.1″ display, 2GB RAM, 32GB eMMC storage, and 4G LTE connectivity for $109.99 shipping. Teclast P10S specifications: SoC – UNISOC SC9863A octa-core Cortex-A55 processor @ 1.6 / 1.2 GHz (two clusters) with Imagination IMG8322 GPU; 28mn HPC process System Memory – 2GB LPDDR3 Storage – 32GB eMMC flash, microSD card slot up to 128GB Display – 10.1″ multi-touch IPS capacitive screen with 1280×800 resolution Camera 2.0MP front-facing camera 5.0MP rear camera with auto-focus Audio – Built-in microphone and stereo speakers, 3.5mm audio jack Connectivity Dual-band 802.11b/g/n/ac WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.0 GNSS – GPS/A-GPS, Beidou Cellular (Note […]

The hIoTron monitoring system is designed to be middleware for smart cold chain systems, which can be found in food transport, pharmaceutical transport and even some chemical transport systems. We previously covered any product from the company in April of 2018 with the hIoTron modular and enterprise development kit that helps with prototyping of IoT devices. Cold Chain Systems The company has now developed a commercial product designed for one of the most sensitive platforms in supply chain management: the cold chain. A cold chain system is a distribution process that requires constant monitoring of a product’s surrounding environment while in transit or storage before or after transit. The actions and equipment in low-temperature ranges would be maintained at a constant between 2 and 8 ℃ (36 to 46 ℉) to maintain the integrity of the product, food, drug, or chemical, from harvest/production through to consumption. These complex systems can be monitored by hIoTron cold chain system, and if necessary […]
