Teclast P10S 10.1″ Android LTE Tablet Features UNISOC SC9863A Octa-core Cortex-A55 SoC

Teclast P10S

We reported about Spreadtrum SC9863 processor for 4G LTE smartphones last year, as it was the first SoC we had seen made only of Cortex-A55 cores. Since then several phones have launched with the processor, now sold under UNISOC company name, such as the $83 Doogee N10 smartphone, but today I also noticed a tablet based on the processor. Teclast P10S comes with a 10.1″ display, 2GB RAM, 32GB eMMC storage, and 4G LTE connectivity for $109.99 shipping. Teclast P10S specifications: SoC – UNISOC SC9863A octa-core Cortex-A55 processor @ 1.6 / 1.2 GHz (two clusters) with Imagination IMG8322 GPU; 28mn HPC process System Memory – 2GB LPDDR3 Storage – 32GB eMMC flash, microSD card slot up to 128GB Display – 10.1″ multi-touch IPS capacitive screen with  1280×800 resolution Camera 2.0MP front-facing camera 5.0MP rear camera with auto-focus Audio – Built-in microphone  and stereo speakers, 3.5mm audio jack Connectivity Dual-band 802.11b/g/n/ac […]

Beelink GT1 Mini 2 Amlogic S905X3 TV Box is Now Sold for $70

Amlogic S905X3 Android TV Box

Around two weeks ago, we covered Beelink GT1 Mini 2 that was one of the first TV boxes to get an Arm Cortex-A55 processor, namely the latest Amlogic S905X3 quad-core processor, and the company also shared benchmarks showing Amlogic S905X3 was only marginally faster than Amlogic S905X2 quad-core Cortex-A53 SoC. As shown in our S905X3 vs S905X2 comparison, the main improvements for the former are the presence of an NPU for AI acceleration, and support for faster DDR4 memory up to 3,200 MHz. Upon the announcement, one person noticed the TV box was sold for $80 on GearBest with the default configuration of 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, and while the price has now dropped to $73.99 on GB, Beelink GT1 Mini 2 can now be purchased found for just $69.99 on Aliexpress including worldwide shipping. Beelink GT1 Mini 2 specifications: SoC – Amlogic S905X3 quad-core Arm Cortex-A55 processor @ […]

RK3588 8K Arm Cortex-A76/A55 SoC, Rockchip Roadmap to 2020

RK3588

Rockchip had their annual event yesterday offering a view of past achievements, as well as a glimpse into the future with new products announcements. The company is ready to go to the next level with their Rockchip RK3588 featuring Cortex-A76 and Cortex-A55 cores, 8K video decoding support, 4K user interface support, an NPU 2.0 (Neural Processing Unit) manufactured using an 8nm LP process. The processor should have eight cores in a 4+4 dynamIQ configuration according to a tip from “coldfish”, and the new 8nm process is expected to increase performance by 20 to 30 percent, while the power consumption will be reduced by 40 percent. Mass production is expected for Q1 2020. The company also showed a slide with their video encoder/decoder IP, and Gen3 should be in RK3588 since that’s the only one with an 8K 60 fps decoder using either AVS3 or H.266 (VVC). I’m quite confused with […]

Amlogic S905X3, S905Y3 & S905D3 Quad Core Cortex A55 AI Processors Are Coming Soon

Amlogic S905X3, S905Y3

I’ve just found out Amlogic is working on S905X3, S905Y3, and S905D3 quad-core Arm Cortex-A55 processor, coupled with an AI processor normally used for voice recognition in TV boxes, following the introduction of Amlogic S905X2, S905Y2, and S905D2 processors last year, all based on the older and time-tested Arm Cortex-A53 cores. Arm Cortex A55 was announced together with Arm Cortex A75 processor as the first core compatible with DynamIQ processing, and so far we’ve seen a few Arm Cortex-A55 cores but mostly combined with Cortex-A75. Amlogic S905D3, S905X3, and S905Y3 change all that. We have very few details at this stage, except the new processors will have many of the same features as the S905X2/Y2/D2 models including an Arm Mali-G31 MP2 GPU, HDMI 2.1 up to 4Kp75 resolution and HDR support, 4K H.265, VP9, and AVS2 video decoding, Full HD H.265/H.264 encoding, as well as PCIe and USB 3.0 support. Spreadtrum SC9863 Octa-core Cortex A55 Processor is Made for LTE Smartphones

Arm unveiled Cortex A55 cores about a year ago, and while we have seen the new cores combined with Cortex 75-class cores in premium smartphone processors such as Exynos 9810 SoC, I had yet to see a standalone Cortex A55 processor that should deliver a performance boost compared to A53, while keeping the costs in check, and providing good power efficiency. Spreadtrum has filled this void with their SC9863 processor equipped with eight Cortex A55 cores clocked a 1.6 GHz, and designed for LTE smartphones. Performance is said to be improved by 20% compared with their Arm Cortex-A53 processor, and the SoC also embeds an AI processing unit that increases AI tasks performance by 6 times, and allows for real-time intelligent context detection and recognition, AR photography, and face recognition. Spreadtrum SC9863 also features a dual ISP capable of handle dual cameras of up to 16 MP, supports 1080p HD […]

ARM Cortex-A75 & Cortex-A55 Cores, and Mali-G72 GPU Details Revealed

We’ve already seen ARM Cortex A75 cores were coming thanks to leak showing Snapdragon 845 SoC will feature custom Cortex A75 cores, but we did not have many details. But since we live in a world where “to leak is glorious”, we already have some slides originally leaked through VideoCardz with the post now deleted, but Liliputing & TheAndroidSoul got some of the slides before deletion, so let’s see what we’ve got here. ARM Cortex A75 So ARM Cortex-A75 will be  about 20% faster than Cortex A73 for single thread operation, itself already 30% faster than Cortex A72. It will also be the first DynamIQ capable processor together with Cortex A55 with both cores potentially used in big.LITTLE configuration. Cortex A75 performance is only better for peak performance, and remain the same as Cortex-A73 for sustained performance. The chart above does not start at zero, so it appear as though […]
