RAK7244 LoRaWAN Developer Gateway Combines Raspberry Pi 4 with LoRa HAT, Optional 4G LTE Connectivity

Raspberry Pi 4 LoRaWAN LTE Gateway

After launching RAK831 Lite LoRaWAN gateway based on Raspberry Pi 3 board in 2018, RAK Wireless introduced Pilot Gateway Pro RAK7243 gateway with the more recent Raspberry Pi 3B+ SBC earlier this year. But with the launch of Raspberry Pi 4 last June, the Raspberry Pi 3B+ has become much harder to procure, so RAK has now launched an updated LoRa gateway featuring Raspberry Pi 4 SBC together with the company’s RAK2245 Pi Hat Edition LoRaWAN gateway concentrator module. RAK7244 LoRaWAN Developer Gateway specifications: SBC – Raspberry Pi 4 Model B with 2GB RAM Connectivity LoRa RAK2245 Pi Hat LoRaWAN gateway concentrator module with 1x SX1301 baseband processor, 2x SX125x Tx/Rx front-ends LoRaWAN v1.0.2 support Support for 8 channels and spreading factors SF7 to SF12 Bands – 433MHz, 470MHz, 865MHz, 868MHz, 915MHz, 920MHz, 923MHz Tx Power: 27 dBm Max RX Sensitivity: -139dBm Cellular – Optional 4G LTE support via RAK2013 […]

Giveaway Week – WisCellular NB-IoT & eMTC GPS Tracker

WisCellular NB-IoT Board with Antennas

Rak Wireless WisCellular is an NB-IoT & eMTC Arduino shield based on Quectel BG96 module with 2G fallback that is similar to the company’s previous-generation WisLTE board, except it is certified for the global markets. I received a beta sample last year and went through the instructions to use it with a Hologram SIM card, but sadly I never managed to make it work, and eventually learned the Hologram SIM card did not support NB-IoT in Thailand. So I would have had to buy a local SIM card, but at the time, they didn’t sell those, and the only way to get an NB-IoT SIM card was to buy a development kit. Before going ahead with the purchase, I asked about coverage in my area but never managed to get a definitive answer so I gave up. So instead of keeping it in a drawer at home, I’d better just […]

RAKWireless Introduces RAK7200 LoRa Tracker | Features & Specifications

RAK7200

RAK7200 is a LoRa Tracker node built around the AcSIP S76G chip. It integrates the ultra-low-power STM32L073 micro-controller, the SX1276 LoRa long range modem, and the CXD5603GF GPS receiver. The RAK7200, being a fully functioning LoRaWAN device, is particularly suited for IoT applications. Such as asset tracking, smart vehicle management, location-based service, etc. According to the device manufacturers, RAKWireless, a leading Chinese IoT solutions company, based in Shenzhen, RAK7200 requires minimal setup. Just pop in the included battery, close the housing and you can start sensing your GPS data over LoRaWAN. Furthermore, there are sensors built-into the board: a 9-axis accelerometer and pressure sensor. The new GPS Tracker node is an upgrade over the company’s earlier offering in the GPS tracker space, the RAK7205. Now, the earlier version, the RAK7205, was mostly aimed at developers, with its larger more robust casing and solar panel. But the RA7200 is more of […]
