Warchief Nvidia Tegra K1 Android Game Console Supports Kinect-like 3D Motion Tracking

Nvidia Tegra K1 is still the one of the best low power processor for gaming with its 192-core Kepler GPU, and a few Chinese manufacturers are about the launch mini PCs or game console featuring the 32-bit and/or 64-bit version of the processor. Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition Octa-core Smartphone to be Unveiled at MWC 2015

BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition may have been the first phones launched with Ubuntu operating systems, but the device is rather an entry-level smrtphone with Mediatek MT6582 quad core Cortex A7 processor and 1GB RAM. If you’d like a much faster and powerful Ubuntu phone, Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition will be announced at Mobile World Congress 2015. Build a Raspberry Pi 2 Minimal Image with The Yocto Project

The Yocto Project is a build system that allows developers to make custom Linux distributions matching their exact needs. I’ve already shown how to build a 12MB Compressed image for the Raspberry Pi with Yocto, but the Raspberry Pi 2 has recently been added to the project, so I’ve tried to build it too in a machine running Ubuntu 14.04. I’ll use poky since it’s the default, but you could also build the system for Angstrom or without distributions (OpenEmbedded Core only). The steps to get the code is just the same as for the Raspberry Pi:

mkdir yocto
cd yocto
git clone git://git.yoctoproject.org/poky.git
cd poky
git clone git://git.yoctoproject.org/meta-raspberrypi

mkdir yocto

cd yocto

git clone git://git.yoctoproject.org/poky.git

cd poky

git clone git://git.yoctoproject.org/meta-raspberrypi

You just need to checkout master, and not any branch (like dizzy) since R-Pi 2 is not yet supported in any release. Initialize some environment variables and the build directory:

Now edit conf/local.conf with vim or nano to set the machine to raspberrypi2 instead of qemux86:

Linaro 15.02 Release with Linux 3.19 and Android 5.0

Linaro 15.02 has just been released with Linux 3.19 (baseline), Linux 3.10.68 and 3.14.34 (LSK), Android 5.0.2, and Ubuntu Linaro Utopic. Listed changes for Linux Linaro are exactly the same as last month, except they’ve used Linux 3.9 release. Power management tools have been added to their AOSP build, and some work has been done for Android 5.0 on the new Hikey board. Imagination PowerVR GT7900 GPU is Made for Game Consoles and Notebooks

Imaginatino Technologies has just introduced the most powerful GPU of their new PowerVR Series7 GPU family with GT7900 featuring 16 unified shading clusters and 512 ALU cores for game consoles, micro-servers, and notebooks. PowerVR GT7900 is still an embedded GPU with support for OpenGL ES 3.1 + AEP (Android Extension Pack) compatibility, full hardware support for tessellation and ASTC LDR and HDR texture compression standards. The new GPU delivers up to 800 GFLOPS (FP32) or 1.6 TFLOPS (FP16) graphics and compute performance at 800 MHz (using 16 nm FinFET+ manufacturing process), which compares to about 550 GFLOPS (FP32) for an Nvidia GeForce GT730M at comparable frequency. Samsung Introduces Faster Full-Duplex UFS 2.0 Storage for Mobile Devices

eMMC (embedded multimedia card) provides a boost in read and write performance compared to traditional NAND flash memories, let alone micro SD cards. Samsung has now announced the manufacturing of the first 32, 64, and 128GB embedded memory solution based on Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 2.0 standard delivering up to 350MB/s read speed and 150MB/s write speed, or 40% improvement in read speed over eMMC 5.1.This should help further reduce boot time, and app loading times. Moreover, while eMMC read and write operating are sequential (half-duplex), UFS 2.0 allows for full-duplex operating, meaning writing and reading can happen at the same time. UFS can achieve this feat thanks to a LVDS (Low-Voltage Differential Signaling) serial interface with dedicated read/write paths contrary to the parallel 8-bit interface used for eMMC.
