80GHz mmWave Liquid Level Detection Sensor

80 GHz mmWave liquid level detection sensor supports ModBus, offers 40m range

I’ve just come across a no-name non-contact, high-precision 80 GHz mmWave radar sensor for liquid level detection with a 40m range, ±5mm accuracy, and Modbus communication over UART. We had seen 24 GHz and 60 GHz mmWave sensors mostly for precise motion detection, but it’s the first time I’ve seen an 80 GHz mmWave sensor, or more exactly, 79 GHz. It operates on the same principle of Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar as most other mmWave sensors and connects to an Arduino or other board over UART. It targets applications such as smart water management, industrial process control, and environmental disaster prevention/monitoring. Specifications: MCU – GigaDevice GD32F405 Arm Cortex-M4F microcontroller @ 168 MHz with 192KB SRAM, 3MB flash, 1MB code-flash Transmit frequency – 77–81 GHz (79 GHz mid frequency), 4 GHz bandwidth Output power (EIRP) – 13 to 20dBm Beamwidth (-3dB) Horizontal ±25°, Vertical ±25° With external lens: Horizontal […]

VS Code AutoML Embedded

VS Code gets AutoML Embedded plugin for automated model tuning, deployment, and benchmarking

AutoML for Embedded, developed by Analog Devices (ADI) and Antmicro, is an open-source plugin for Visual Studio Code that works alongside ADI’s CodeFusion Studio plugin. Built on the Kenning framework, it automates the full ML pipeline, including model search, hyperparameter tuning, optimization, compression, and deployment, making edge AI development easy on resource-constrained devices. The company mentions that it supports the ADI MAX78002 AI accelerator MCU, the MAX32690 MCU, Renode-based simulation, and Zephyr RTOS. It uses SMAC and Hyperband algorithms for automated model search and hyperparameter tuning, along with model compression and quantization to meet strict memory and compute limits. The plugin offers built-in benchmarking for inference speed, memory footprint, and accuracy, while performing RAM and compute compatibility checks. All these features make it useful for applications like image classification, anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, NLP, and action recognition on low-power IoT and embedded systems. UR-DP1000 Block Diagram

Three high-performance RISC-V processors to watch in H2 2025: UltraRISC UR-DP1000, Zhihe A210, and SpacemIT K3

Some high-performance RISC-V processors are in the pipeline for the rest of the year 2025, namely UltraRISC UR-DP1000, Zhihe A210, and SpacemIT K3. We currently have limited information about each of those processors, but let’s see what information we can gather from the web, mostly as a result of the recent RISC-V Summit in China. UltraRISC UR-DP1000  – Octa-core 64-bit RISC-V SoC The first SoC is the UR-DP1000 octa-core from UltraRISC (the website loads slowly, and I could not find anything about the UR-DP1000 there). It will be used in Shenzhen Milk-V Technology’s Titan mini-ITX motherboard, and Sipeed also posted the slide above on X. Preliminary UR-RP1000 specifications: CPU 8x 64-bit RISC-V UR-CP100 “RV64GCBHX” cores up to 2.0 GHz Two 4x core cluster design with 4MB L3 cache each, and a total of 16MB cache. SPECCPU2006 single-core INT @ 10.4/GHz; single-core FP @ 12/GHz Fully RVA22 compliant, and “Compliant with […]

GEEKOM Mini IT12 205 Edition Mini PC review Intel Core i7-1280P Windows 11 Pro

GEEKOM Mini IT12 2025 Edition mini PC review – Part 2: Windows 11 Pro features testing, benchmarks, power consumption

We have already checked out the hardware of the GEEKOM Mini IT12 2025 Edition mini PC with an unboxing and a teardown in the first part of the review. The new model still relies on a 12th Intel processor, and simply replaced the 10-core Intel Core i7-12650H by a more powerful 14-core Intel Core i7-1280P processor still coupled with 32GB of DDR4 RAM and a 1TB M.2 SSD, although the brands and models of the RAM, storage, and wireless modules have changed. In the second part of the review, we will be testing the GEEKOM Mini IT12 2025 Edition mini PC with the pre-installed Windows 11 Pro in detail, notably testing most features and running benchmarks before comparing it to the (2023 Edition) Mini IT12 mini PC with an Intel Core i7-12650H processor. We’ll also test 2.5GbE and WiFi 6 networking, cooling performance, and finally measure fan noise and power […]
