Rockchip Unveils RK3168 Dual Core Processor, Showcases $10 Miracast Adapter

Rockchip is currently at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair showing off their RK3188 quad core processor, and corresponding products such as tablets, gamepads, HDMI TV dongles, etc… Business seems good as they already received orders for 800k pieces in about a month, and they expect to sell 10 to 15 millions over the course of the year. The company had also a few RK3066 devices on display, but more interestingly they announced RK3168, which also a dual core Cortex A9 processor, but with lower power consumption thanks to 28nm HKMG process, instead of the 40nm process used for Rockchip RK3066. They have a tablet prototype without battery connected to a power supply to show the power consumption, and the tablet under test consumes 280mA @ 3.8V (About 1 Watt) when decoding 1080p videos with the display brightness set to about 50%. Chen Feng, Vice President at Rockchip, explains that with […]

Samsung Exynos 5 Octa Antutu Benchmark Results

The highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone should become available later this month in three versions depending on the country where you reside: GT-I9500 – Exynos 5 Octa @ 1.6 GHz without LTE GT-I9505 – Snapdragon 600 @ 1.9 GHz with LTE SHV-E300S – Exynos 5 Octa @ 1.8 GHz with LTE GS4 will also be the first device to feature Exynos 5 Octa octo-core processor, so until people get their hands on the device, one way to know how fast it can perform is to get some benchmarks running on the devices. SamMobile received the latest Antutu benchmarks for GT-I9500, and as expected, the results are pretty impressive with a score of 28018. This score is about 19% higher than GT-I9505 (Snapdragon 600)  which scores 23607 points. As usual, the detailed scores are not available which is pretty annoying, but I’d assume both the CPU, thanks to the 4 […]

There seem to be more and more Android set-top boxes that can be fitted on top of the TV, but if you are mainly interested in video conference they may not always have very good cameras: MK818 comes with a 0.3MP camera and Archos TV Connect has a 1MP webcam according to Arctablet, which is good enough for 720p video conferencing. On the contrary, Veidoo HD2, an Android 4.0 set-top box powered by AllWinner A10, comes with a 5MP camera which should allow you, in theory, to do video conference in 1080p if your internet connection permits it.
