Linux Mint 19 “Tara” Cinnamon, MATE and Xfce Released

A few days ago, we wrote about the launch of Mintbox Mini 2 / Mini 2 Pro (MBM2), an Intel Apollo Lake Linux mini PC that will ship with Linux Mint 19, and that will start getting into hands of users around mid July. The Mint team has now officially announced the release of Linux Mint 19 – codenamed “Tara” – with the default Cinnamon desktop environment, as well as variants with MATE or Xfce. Linux Mint 19 is a long term support release which will be supported until 2023, and comes with several new features and improvements including: Timeshift – Utility that allows you to go back in time and restore your computer to the last functional system snapshot, and manages updates. Mintbox Mini 2 / Mini 2 Pro (MB2M) Linux mini PC based on Intel Celeron J3455 Apollo Lake processor and running Linux mint 19 was first announced in March of this year. While there are plenty of low power x86 mini PCs running Windows 10, and although in most case it’s always possible to install a Linux distributions yourself, it’s much more difficult to find products that ships with Linux by default. Launched a few years ago, MintBox Mini and MintBox Mini Pro mini PCs are such options being powered by AMD A4 Micro-6400T and AMD A10 Micro-6700T processor respectively, and running Linux Mint. The Mint team has now announced upgraded versions with MiniBox Mint 2 and MiniBox Mini 2 Pro, both based on Intel Celeron J3455 quad core Apollo Lake processor, and just differing by the amount of memory and storage. Azulle Byte3 Mini PC Review – Windows 10, Linux Support, Benchmarks, and Video Playback

The Azulle Byte3 is a fanless Apollo Lake device featuring both M.2 slot and a SATA connector, as well as supporting HDMI and VGA. It includes USB (both 2.0 and 3.0 including a Type-C port) as well as Gigabit Ethernet:   It features an Apollo Lake N3450 SoC and comes with 32GB of storage plus an option of either 4GB or 8GB of RAM and a further option of either with or without Windows 10 Pro meaning Linux users can save around USD 20. Azulle provided me with a device for review and it came in a presentation box complete with a power adapter, and remote control together with a quick guide pamphlet.
