We recently wrote about Devterm, a modular, retro-looking portable computer that looks like a typewriter with an extra-wide display, and takes Raspberry Pi CM3-series modules, or other compatible modules made by Clockwork based on Rockchip RK3399 or Allwinner H6. If you’re into this kind of device, but would like to use your own Raspberry Pi, another SBC, an Intel NUC motherboard, a Nano/Pico-ITX board, or even your smartphone, Ready! Model 100 single board computer expansion system may be worth looking into. Ready! Model 100 key features and specifications: Compatibility – Accommodates any hardware using 5V or 12V power input including smartphones, or arm or x86 SBCs such as Raspberry Pi 4, and compact motherboard following NUC, 4×4, 5×5, or Nano/Pico ITX form factors. SAPPHIRE introduced the FS-FP5V 5-inch SBC powered by AMD Ryzen Embedded V1000 processor in 2018, followed by FS-FP5R board based on AMD Ryzen R1000 processor the following year. But with the launch of AMD Ryzen Embedded V2000 processor family in 2020, it should come as no surprise that Sapphire has also introduced a new 5″x5″ mini-STX SBC powered by Ryzen Embedded V2000 SoCs with Sapphire (V2000) FS-FP6. Sapphire FS-FP6 specifications Specifications with differences against FS-FP5V highlighted in bold: SoC AMD Ryzen Embedded V2516 hexa-core/12-thread processor @ 2.1 GHz / 3.95 GHz (Turbo) with 3MB L2 cache, 6 CUs Radeon RX Vega 6 GPU @ 1.5 GHz; TDP: 10-25W TDP (15W default) AMD Ryzen Embedded V2546 hexa-core/12-thread processor @ 3.0 GHz / 3.95 GHz (turbo) with 3 MB L2 cache, 6 CUs Radeon RX Vega 6 GPU @ 1.5 GHz; TDP: 35-54W TDP (45W default) AMD Ryzen Embedded V2718 octa-core/16-thread processor @ 1.7 GHz / 4.15 GHz (Turbo) with 4MB L2 […]
It’s this time of the year when we look back at what happened, and what may be next. 2020 did not pan out as planned in more ways than one, but there were still some interesting developments. Based on 2019 announcements, 2020 was promising to be an exciting year for Amlogic and Rockchip with the expected launch of RK3588 and S908X high-end processors for 8K capable devices, but we’ll have to wait for 2021 for this to happen. Instead, the most interesting processor of the year from the Allwinner, Amlogic, and Rockchip offerings was probably Amlogic S905X4 processing adding AV1 hardware decoding. As pointed out in our “RISC-V 2020 highlights” post, it was a fairly eventful year for RISC-V architecture, although there’s still a long road ahead, especially for application processors. We had seen some general-purpose and Bluetooth RISC-V MCUs in 2019, but 2020 saw the launch of the first WiFi IoT RISC-V chips with ESP32-C3 and BL602, Alibaba making […]
We’ve already written about AMD Ryzen 7 4800 mini PC‘s such as ASROCK 4×4 BOX-4800, but if you’d like something slimmer with the processor, nothing beats the company’s Mars 4000U series mini PCs with a 26mm height. Despite its slim body, the mini PC packs up a lot of processing power and features, with up to an AMD Ryzen 7 4800 processor, up to 64GB RAM, support for a 2.5-inch SATA drive and M.2 NVMe/SATA SSD, as well as HDMI and VGA video outputs and more. ASRock Mars 4000U mini PC specifications: SoC Mars 4300U model – AMD Ryzen 3 4300U quad-core processor up to 3.7GHz with 6MB cache, 5-core Radeon graphics; 15W TDP Mars 4500U model – AMD Ryzen 5 4500U hexa-core processor up to 4.0GHz with 11MB cache, 6-core Radeon graphics; 15W TDP Mars 4800U model – AMD Ryzen 7 4800U octa-core/16-thread processor up to 4.2GHz with 12MB cache, 7-core Radeon graphics; 15W TDP System Memory – 2x […]
AMD officially announced AMD Ryzen Embedded V2000 Zen2 processor family yesterday, with claims of twice the multi-threaded performance-per-watt, up to 30 percent better single-thread CPU performance, and up to 40 percent better graphics performance over Ryzen Embedded V1000 processors. We’ve already covered ADLINK cExpress-AR COM Express module featuring the new AMD embedded processor, but we should expect more Ryzen V2000 hardware announcements over the next few days and weeks, and ASRock Industrial has announced the iBOX-V2000 fanless mini PC with lower power parts, namely Ryzen Embedded V2516 & V2718, and targets embedded, industrial, and Edge applications such as retail, automation, automotive, entertainment, and smart cities. IBOX-V2000 mini PC comes in two variants IBOX-V2000M and IBOX-V2000V with the following specifications: SoC IBOX-V2000V – AMD Ryzen Embedded V2516 hexa-core/12-thread processor @ up to 2.1 GHz / 3.95 GHz (Turbo) with 6 CUs Radeon RX Vega 6 GPU; 10-25W TDP IBOX-V2000M – AMD Ryzen Embedded V2718 octa-core/16-thread processor @ up to 1.7 GHz […]
