Renesas has expanded its low-cost RA0 series of low-cost, low-power Cortex-M23 MCUs with the new RA0L1, the first in the lineup to feature integrated capacitive touch. Designed for low-cost battery-powered applications with responsive touch control, ultra-low current consumption, and fast wake-up. The RA0L1 combines up to 64KB flash, 16KB SRAM, and a 1.6V–5.5V operating range with peripherals such as a 12-bit ADC, temperature sensor, multiple UART/I2C/SPI interfaces, timers, RTC, and a random number generator. It supports up to 24 capacitive touch channels using Renesas’ self-capacitance technology, a high-accuracy ±1% on-chip oscillator, safety functions, and security features including TRNG and unique ID. Renesas RA2T1 low-power Cortex-M23 MCUs target BLDC/PMSM motor applications
Renesas has recently launched the RA2T1 group of low-power motor control MCUs, built around a 64 MHz Arm Cortex-M23, for low-cost single-motor applications like power tools, fans, and home appliances. Designed for Brushless DC Electric Motors (BLDC) and Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM), the RA2T1 supports both trapezoidal and FOC control techniques, thanks to its integrated 3-channel Sample and Hold (S&H) circuits that enable accurate 3-phase current detection. It also includes PWM shutdown features and various analog and digital peripherals in compact packages as small as 4×4 mm QFN. Previously, Renesas introduced the RA8T1, also a motor control MCU based on the Cortex-M85 core with Helium instructions and DSP extensions. Renesas RA2L2 – The first low-power MCU with USB-C Revision 2.4 support
Renesas RA2L2 is the world’s first low-power MCU to support the USB-C Revision 2.4 standard with 15W CC detection, USB FS support. It also offers support for CAN Bus, I3C, and low-power UART. The announcement follows other devices from the Renesas RA series, such as the RA2A2 Arm Cortex-M23 MCU introduced in 2024, and the RA4L1 ultra-low-power MCU unveiled earlier this year with just 168 µA/MHz operation, dual-bank flash, and capacitive touch. The RA2L2 Cortex-M23 microcontroller also embeds up to 128KB of code flash, 16KB SRAM, and 4KB data flash for EEPROM-like storage. Renesas RA0E2 is a low-power, low-cost Arm Cortex-M23 microcontroller (MCU) Group part of the RA0 family introduced in 2024 that can operate in an extended temperature range (-40°C to +125°C) and offers a wide variety of peripheral functions and safety features. It follows the RA0E1 devices – the first member of the RA0 family – designed for consumer electronics, household appliances, power tools, industrial monitoring, and other applications, including battery-powered devices.
