Proxmox has recently announced the first official release of Proxmox Virtual Environment (VE) with support for 64-bit Arm (arm64/aarch64). Until now, the popular virtualization solution was only available for x86-64 (amd64). Proxmox VE 9.2 for arm64 is built on Debian 13.5 “Trixie” with Linux 7.0, and is otherwise based on the same code as the x86-64 version, and relies on the same configuration, tooling, and documentation, except for a few architecture-specific differences. The developers note that Proxmox VE for Arm fully supports NVIDIA Grace Hopper and NVIDIA Vera platforms, and “best-effort” support is available on other UEFI-based Armv8-A/Armv9-A hardware. However, device-tree-only single-board computers, such as the Raspberry Pi, are not supported, since the host must boot through UEFI and describe its hardware through ACPI. Having said that, we previously noted work on an UEFI+ACPI port for the Raspberry Pi 4, and users have already managed to have the release work […]
NanoPi R28S – A tiny dual GbE Rockchip RK3528A wireless SBC and router with a USB-C console port
NanoPi R28S is yet another tiny dual Gigabit Ethernet single board computer or router (with a metal enclosure), and the second from FriendlyELEC to implement a USB-C console port, often requested by our readers, after the NanoPi R2S Plus launched in 2024. At just 49.5 x 49.5 x 24 mm in its metal case, the Rockchip RK3528A-powered router also features 1GB LPDDR4, a microSD card slot and an eMMC module socket for storage, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless connectivity. The USB-C ports are only used for power, eMMC firmware upgrades, and debugging, and the system doesn’t feature any USB port for data connectivity, nor any GPIO header for expansion. In other words, it’s mostly useful for networking (firewalls, soft routers), as well as IoT gateway applications. NanoPi R28S specifications: SoC – Rockchip RK3528A CPU – Quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 @ 1.8 GHz GPU – Arm Mali-450 GPU with support for […]
The Best GEEKOM Mini PCs to Buy During the Prime Day 2026 Sale (Sponsored)
GEEKOM has just launched its Prime Day 2026 sale with up to 30% off the entire GEEKOM mini PC lineup, from everyday computing solutions to high-performance mini PCs. We’ve selected three models that are especially worth a look at. GEEKOM A5 Pro The GEEKOM A5 Pro is a mid-range mini PC powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 7430U processor paired with 16GB of RAM and a 512 GB NVMe SSD. It offers four display interfaces through two HDMI 2.0 video outputs and two USB-C ports with DisplayPort Alt Mode, a 3.5mm headphone jack, 2.5GbE and WiFi 6 networking, a full-size SD card reader, and a range of USB 3.2/2.0 ports. We’ve previously reviewed the model with an AMD Ryzen 5 7530U CPU running Windows 11 Pro and Ubuntu 25.10 and found out it was especially a good choice for people wanting low-power consumption and minimal fan noise. It’s now sold […]
NanoPi M6V2 RK3588S SBC gains support for dual analog microphone input
FriendlyELEC’s NanoPi M6V2 is an update to the NanoPi M6 Rockchip RK3588S SBC, whose main change is a 4-pin connector for dual analog microphone input. The RAM is also now fixed to 8GB (no more 4GB, 16GB, or 32GB options), some buttons have changed, and the company has stopped offering an enclosure with a built-in 3.5-inch display. The rest of the specifications remain the same, with LPDDR5 memory, support for microSD, eMMC flash, or NVMe storage, HDMI 2.1 and MIPI DSI display interfaces, MIPI CSI camera inputs, Gigabit Ethernet and optional M.2 WiFi/Bluetooth connectivity, a few USB ports, and a 30-pin GPIO header. NanoPi M6V2 specifications: SoC – Rockchip RK3588S CPU – Octa-core processor with 4x Cortex-A76 cores @ up to 2.4 GHz, 4x Cortex-A55 cores @ up to 1.8 GHz GPU – Arm Mali-G610 MP4 GPU compatible with OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.2, and Vulkan 1.2 APIs VPU – […]
NanoPi NEO3 Plus – A tiny Rockchip RK3528A headless SBC with Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0 port, GPIO header
FriendlyELEC NanoPi NEO3 Plus is an ultra-compact headless SBC powered by a Rockchip RK3528A SoC paired with 1GB RAM, whose main interfaces are a Gigabit Ethernet jack, a USB 3.2 port, and a 26-pin GPIO header. I can still remember using its predecessor, the NanoPi NEO3, based on a Rockchip RK3328, which I reviewed with Armbian in 2020. The new model is similar, with a quad-core Cortex-A53 SoC but clocked at 2.0 GHz instead of 1.5 GHz, and offered with a black metal case instead of a white plastic case. The OS can still be booted from a microSD card, but the NanoPi NEO3 Plus also offers a socket for an optional eMMC flash module, and adds an RTC battery connector, a speaker connector, and a MASK button for firmware updates. NanoPi NEO3 Plus specifications: SoC – Rockchip RK3528A CPU – Quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 @ 2.0 GHz GPU – Arm […]
