Synaptics has introduced the Astra SRW1500 Series of AI-native Edge AI MCUs designed for smart IoT edge devices. The family features an Arm Cortex-M52 core, an optional Arm Ethos-U55 Neural Processing Unit (NPU), and tri-band Wi-Fi 7 or Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 6.0 LE, and 802.15.4 connectivity, in a single package. It targets low-latency on-device AI workloads such as voice-trigger detection, sound-event classification, and AI-enhanced Wi-Fi sensing. The series currently comes in four variants offering different wireless and USB options. Since sensing, AI processing, and wireless connectivity are integrated into a single chip, this approach helps reduce system costs, simplify PCB design, and lower power consumption in devices such as smart home hubs, building automation systems, and home appliances. GL.iNet Mudi 7, codenamed GL-E5800, is a battery-powered 5G NR WiFi-7 travel router with 2.5GbE, up to 4.67 Gbps downlink cellular speed, up to 5.76 Gbps WiFi link rate, and 700 Mbps VPN transfer rate using OpenVPN-DCO (600 Mbps with WireGuard VPN). It’s the third model since the company introduced the Mudi portable 4G LTE WiFi router in 2019, and followed up with the Mudi V2 (GL-E750V2) 4G LTE router in 2024. The Mudi 7 is a serious upgrade with 2.5GbE, 5G cellular, and WiFi 7 connectivity, and a large 5380 mAh battery good for a full day. Qualcomm has introduced the Dragonwing Mobile Broadband Multimedia (MBM) family, a new lineup of 4-nm SoCs that integrate 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi, multimedia processing, and on-device AI into a single platform for “interactive broadband” devices. The family currently features the top-tier Dragonwing MBM715 and the lower-cost Dragonwing MBM415, designed for smart displays, retail kiosks, service terminals, and other connected devices that require both high-speed connectivity and local processing. Hardkernel ODROID-H5 is an affordable Intel Core i3-N300 octa-core Alder Lake-N SBC providing a 10GbE RJ45 networking jack, and four M.2 PCIe slots for storage, wired/wireless networking, or AI accelerator expansion. It relies on the same SoC as in the earlier ODROID-H4 Ultra SBC, but trades a single PCIe Gen3 x4 M.2 slot and four SATA ports for four M.2 slots, and upgrades from dual 2.5GbE  to single 10GbE. It still features four USB ports, but only one USB 3.0 port, and three USB 2.0 ports. After several leaks, the Intel Core Series 3 “Wildcat Lake” entry-level processor family is now official. Intel describes it as the first “hybrid AI-ready Core Series processor”.  As expected, the “Computer & CPU tile” comes with up to six cores (2x P cores + 4x LPE cores), up to 2-core Intel Xe 3 graphics, up to 40 TOPS of combined AI performance, and LPDDR5x/DDR5 memory interfaces. The “Platform controller tile” integrates six PCIe Gen4 lanes, two Thunderbolt 4 interfaces, two USB 3.2 and eight USB 2.0 interfaces, as well as WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity. The Computer & GPU tile is manufactured using an Intel 18A process, while the Platform controller tile is manufactured with another “External” process (TSMC?).
