RAK introduces Raspberry Pi RP2040 based LoRaWAN core, more Wisblock modules

RAKwireless has just launched the RAK11310 WisBlock LPWAN Module with Raspberry Pi RP2040 MCU and LoRaWAN connectivity, as announced after launching 14 new WisBlock modules for IoT prototyping last July. The RAK11310 module was introduced as part of the “Just Track It RAK Autumn Launch 2021” event together with the smallest WisBlock Base Board so far, as well as 11 new Wisblock modules which bring the total to 47 modules. OAS software now supports Raspberry Pi 4 for Industry 4.0 solutions

A week before the announcement that Raspberry Pi supported industrial customers through several new services, including a dedicated website for the industry and the Raspberry Pi Approved Design Partners program, OAS announced support for deploying the Open Automation Software Platform on Raspberry Pi 4 with 4GB or 8GB of memory. Pi-oT was launched last year as a Raspberry Pi add-ons designed for commercial and industrial IoT automation. It features 5V I/Os, relays, and ADC  inputs suitable for light-duty projects and prototyping. The company, called Edge Devices, has now launched an update with Pi-oT 2 adding optional support for 24V digital inputs, RS-485, and an uninterruptible power supply (UPS). OPTIGA Trust-M evaluation kit for Raspberry Pi targets Connected Home over IP standard

Last December, we reported that Amazon, Apple, Google, and the Zigbee Alliance had partnered to create Project Connected Home over IP (CHIP) working group with the goal of developing a royalty-free, secure Smart Home standard to increase compatibility among products over WiFi, Ethernet, Bluetooth LE, Cellular, 802.15.4 and others community protocol. Infineon has now unveiled OPTIGA Trust-M evaluation kit for Raspberry Pi designed to experiment with Connect Home over IP standard and comprised of Infineon Shield2Go HAT/adapter board, and OPTIGA Trust-M Security Shield2Go board equipped with Infineon OPTIGA Trust-M “Common Criteria Certified EAL6+” security controller. Raspberry Pi 400 keyboard computer with Broadcom BCM2711C0 1.8 GHz processor has just launched, and we already published a teardown of the Raspberry Pi 400 hardware to check out the cooling solution and overall hardware design. In this review, we’ll mostly focus on Raspberry Pi 400 and Raspberry Pi 4 differences, since both devices mostly rely on the same chips. After checking the different features, we’ll run Thomas Kaiser’s “SBC Bench” script to test thermal cooling and benchmark both RPi hardware platforms.
