DENGTEC RIMU is a modular ESP32-S3-powered IoT controller with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display and magnetic pogo pins to add a range of stackable modules for I/Os, RGB LED and DMX512 lighting control, power monitoring, and more.
The RIMU host is equipped with 32MB NOR flash for the firmware, either 4GB or 8GB SD NAND flash for data storage, an I/O port for expansion, a buzzer, a gyroscope, a vibration motor, and more. It can be mounted using its tripod thread or on a DIN rail with an adapter. It features a 1,050 mAh battery that can be charged through the device’s USB Type-C port.

It appears the modules are not ready yet, but you can find a long list of ideas on the company website, including a development module with 16 general-purpose I/O ports, a GPIO expansion module with 4 digital input/output channels and 4 analog input channels, an addressable RGB LED module, a current monitor module, a DMX512 lighting control module, and more.
The company says they’ve developed firmware based on the ESP-IDF 5.4 framework and LVGL 9.2, and they plan to port the platform to Arduino and PlatformIO by the end of the year. The community website may have a few more details about the project’s progress (hardware and software), and you can watch the video embedded below to better understand the solution and what to expect.
DENGTEC launched the RIMU modular IoT controller on Kickstarter with a $3,022 funding target (already surpassed) and 9 days to go. Rewards are only for the RIMU host, starting at $110 for the model with 4GB NAND flash. Shipping is expected to add about $19 to $26, depending on the destination country, and deliveries should start in November 2025.
