Chuwi LapBook Plus Apollo Lake 4K Laptop Sells for $440 (Promo)

Chuwi Lapbook Plus

A little over two years ago, I reviewed Chuwi LapBook 14.1 Apollo Lake laptop with Windows 10, but it happened to run Ubuntu 17.04 fairly well, until the company made a major redesign of the laptop a few months later, and updated the BIOS to disable the Linux option. So I would not recommend Chuwi laptop if you’d ever want to run a Linux distribution, but if you’re after a affordably priced laptop with 4K (3840×2160) display, the upcoming Chuwi LapBook Plus laptop, also based on an Apollo Lake processor, may be worth a look. KB-IDE Open Source IDE Supports ESP-IDF, Arduino, and Visual Programming for ESP32 Boards

KBIDE

We’ve previously written about MakerAsia when covering their KBX Extension case for Kidbright ESP32 educational board. The company has now launched a new product, but it’s not an hardware platform, and instead KB-IDE is an open IDE (Integrated Development Environment) ESP32 boards. The IDE is suitable whatever your level from kids getting started with supports visual programming, to Arduino programming, and even the official Espressif ESP-IDF framework for more experienced makers. The IDE comes with with a Board Manager, a Plugins System and works with any Arduino Library out of the box. Made with Vue.js framework, KB-IDE is open source with the code available on Github.  You can install a binary release, or build it from source for Windows, Linux, or Mac OS. Since it’s open source, it’s also expandable so makers can customize it, for instance by adding new architectures (AVR and ARM are already planned), new boards,  creating plugins and/or adding libraries. I’ve found KD-IDE to be quite …

CHUWI Minibook Amber Lake mini Laptop to sell for $499 and Up (Crowdfunding)

CHUWI Minibook

We’ve already covered several Intel Amber Lake mini laptops with the likes of One Netbook One Mix 3 Yoga or GPD Pocket 2 Max both powered by Intel Core m3-8100Y and equipped with respectively 8.4″ and 8.9″ displays with 2560×1600 resolution. Those are ultra-compact yet powerful machines, which come at a relatively high cost, with for instance the Mix 3 Yoga going for about $760. But there’s another model coming up with CHUWI minibook with similar specifications and an 8″ display that will be offered for as low as $499. The trick is that only 300 pieces part of the “Super Early Birds Perk” will be available at that price when the product launches on Indiegogo on June 19. The retail price should be around $669 since the discount is said to be around 25%. There will also be a cheaper Intel Celeron N4100 Gemini Lake model, but price has not been announced. CHUWI Minibook preliminary specifications: SoC – Intel …

Indiegogo backers should get their console in December 2019, but if you’re prudent with your own money, you may have preferred to wait, it’s now possible to get Atari VCS in March 2020 by pre-ordering it now for $249 and up from Walmart, Gamestop, or Atari’s own website.
