Intel Bay Trail Z3700 Series Overview, Benchmarks, Hardware, Documentation and Linux Support

After seeing the discussion about ARM vs x86 (Bay trail) for the future Dragon Pyra open source game console, I’ve realized many people, including myself, do not know about the different resources available to develop hardware and software for Intel Bay Trail SoCs for tablets such as Atom Z3740 and Z3770, so I decided to have a look. Asus ZenFone Android Smartphones Powered by Intel Atom CPU to Sell for as Low as $99

Last year, Lenovo sold Android smartphones based on Intel Atom SoC but sales numbers turned out to be disappointing. This year, Asus announced 3 smartphones powered by Intel Atom Z2520 and Z2580 SoC at CES 2014, with screen sizes ranging from 4″ to 6″, and much more aggressive pricing, as the 4″ version will sell for $99, the 5″ version for $149, and the 6″ version for $199. Asus Launches Memo Pad HD7 Tablet Powered by Mediatek MT8125

Just about 5 days after Mediatek announcement of their quad core Cortex A7 SoC for tablets, Asus unveiled the Memo Pad HD7, and Android 4.2.2 tablet powered by MT8125, at Computer 2013. The device will be available for just $129 with 8GB flash for developing markets, and for $149 with 16GB Flash worldwide. Asus Cube Google TV Unboxing and Demo Video

The Asus Qube, featuring Google TV 3.0 supporting, was first unveiled at CES 2013. Since then the device has lost its “Q”, has been renamed to Asus Cube, and is now available for pre-order in the US for $139.99 in Newegg, a bit earlier than initially planned (Q3 2012), but slightly more expensive than the $130 we were told to expect in January. The device will start to ship on 24th of April. First, just a quick reminder of the specs. Asus Cube is based on Marvell Armada 1500 Google TV platform, features HDMI out (for TV), HDMI in (for satellite or cable receiver), 2x USB ports, a IR blaster port and provides both Ethernet and Wi-Fi 802.11n connectivity. Google Nexus 7 Tablet (8GB) is Now Available Worldwide… for $330

If you do not live in one of the 8 countries where Google Nexus 7 is for sale, namely the US, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Australia and Japan [Update: Actually it seems to be officially available in more countries now (e.g. South Kore, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong…) , but I can’t find an exact list], and still want to get your hands on a Nexus 7 tablet, there is now an option as the Google Nexus 7 (8 GB) can be bought via Dealextreme for $330.30 including (slow shipping) via Hong Kong Post. Nvidia Has Ported Unreal Engine 3 to Windows RT

After Archos GamePad, more gaming news today, as Nvidia announced Unreal Engine 3 port to Windows RT. The company showcased Epic Citadel demo on Nvidia Tegra 3 based Asus Vivo Tab RT (previously known as Tablet 600) at a press conference held at IFA 2012, in Berlin. The demo above is the full PC implementation running on ARM hardware and renders graphics at 35 to 40fps. The Unreal Engine 3 “Epic Citadel” demo implements the full DirectX 9 pipeline, with shaders and materials. Nvidia also announced that UE3 Windows RT code is available to licensees from Epic now. Google announced their very first tablet at Google I/O called Google Nexus 7 (but manufactured by Asus).
