GL.iNet Comet PoE (GL-RM1PE) is a new KVM over IP solution featuring a quad-core Correx-A53 SoC, support for Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), a 32GB eMMC flash, and the usual HDMI and USB ports. It’s essentially an upgrade to the Comet PoE (GL-RM1) KVM over IP box equipped with PoE and a 32GB eMMC flash capable of handling larger ISO files. It also relies on the faster Cortex-A53 processor used in the upcoming Comet Pro, currently on Kickstarter, with WiFi 6, a 2.2-inch touchscreen display, and HDMI passthrough. GL.iNet also claims faster file transfer (35 MB/s read & 25 MB/s write speeds) of about three times faster than the original Comet. Comet PoE specifications: SoC – Unnamed quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU (Potentially Rockchip RV1126B) System Memory – 1GB DDR3L Storage – 32GB eMMC flash Video & Audio Input – HDMI port up to 2K @ 60 FPS (2160 x 1440 @ 60 FPS); H.264 […]
GL.iNet Comet Pro Remote KVM over WiFi 6 solution offers 2.2-inch touchscreen display, HDMI loop support (Crowdfunding)
GL.iNet Comet Pro (GL-RM10) is a remote KVM over WiFi 6 or Ethernet with a built-in touchscreen display for easy configuration, and support for 4Kp30 with a low latency of 30-60 ms with H.264 hardware encoding. Like other KVM solutions, it allows users to control a computer or board remotely, even when it’s turned off or when accessing the BIOS. It’s built upon the Comet (GL-RM1) KVM over IP solution, adding WiFi 6, HDMI pass-through, and a touchscreen display for easy configuration. It still features a USB-C port for keyboard and mouse emulation, and a USB-A port for ATX power control or a Fingerbot device. The new model also relies on a more powerful quad-core Cortex-A53 SoC and is equipped with 32GB eMMC flash, overcoming the 8GB flash limitation of the low-cost model. Comet Pro (GL-RM10) specifications: SoC – Quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU @ 1.5 GHz; potentially a Rockchip RV1126B, since […]
Review of GL.iNet Comet (GL-RM1) KVM-over-IP solution and ATX power control board
GL.iNet sent me a Comet (GL-RM1) remote KVM box for review, along with a GL-ATXPC ATX Power Control Board. I’ll start this review with an unboxing and a teardown, then I’ll use the GL.iNet Comet with a Raspberry Pi 4 SBC to control it from a web browser in the LAN and the GLKVM app from the Internet. Finally, I’ll connect the GL-ATXPC and GL-RM1 to an Orion O6 mini-ITX motherboard to test ATX power control. GL.iNet Comet (GL-RM1) unboxing I received a parcel with two retail boxes: one for the GL-ATXPC ATX power control board and the other for the GL-RM1 Comet Remote KVM. The GL-RM1 ships with an HDMI cable, an Ethernet cable, a USB-A to USB-C cable for keyboard/mouse emulation, and a USB-C to USB-C cable for power, as well as a card with a QR code to connect with GL.iNet, and a getting started guide in […]
