01Space “ESP32-C3-0.42LCD” is a small (23.5 x 18 mm) board equipped with ESP32-C3 RISC-V WiFi and Bluetooth microcontroller, a 0.42-inch display, and a Qwicc I2C connector to easily add modules such as sensors.
The first time I saw it, the form factor immediately reminded me of the nRF52840-based XIAO BLE Sense board I just used to test Edge Impulse machine learning framework. Both boards should have similar use cases, but XIAO BLE Sense includes a 6-axis IMU sensor, and I had to connect an OLED display, while the ESP32-C3 board already integrates a display, and I would have had to connect an external Qwicc module with an accelerometer.

The developer says the board is compatible with MicroPython, Arduino, and the ESP-IDF, and provides several Arduino sketches (BLE, WiFi host/station, SCD01 sensor, graphics, etc..) and basic instructions on Github.
It’s not the first time we write about 01Space boards as we previously covered their ESP32 boards with 25 RGB LEDs also pictured above.
ESP32-C3-0.42LCD development board is sold on Aliexpress for $9.95 plus shipping.

I didn’t know that such tiny screens existed, that can have various use cases in many areas!
Same. I just want a few of the displays! Maybe those are the ones they’re using for individually customized OLED keycaps?
I just want a few of the boards without displays :), would be nice to make a ispindle.
But it comes to 18€ incl shipping, that way to much for what it is.
Likely, yes. I just found some on Aliexpress, they’re called 0.42″ and measure rougly 5x9mm: https://fave.co/3wpct6O
Thank you. They are 72×40 and it looks like shipping costs have skyrocketed. *sigh*
Why did you put that in a privacy-violating tracking URL shortener that’s blocked by my browser?
Anyway, the AliExpress shop I found a while ago is https://fave.co/3aeyi0g and when buying a lot, the effective price per piece, including shipping, is under $1.30 for me/
