WLKATA Robotics’ Haro380 is a high-precision industrial 6-axis mini robotic arm that can carry a payload of up to 500 grams and designed for education, engineering projects, and light manufacturing.

We’ve covered some desktop robotic arms in the past such as the myCobot 280 Pi, but the HARO380 goes a step further with 0.05mm repeatability, a 6-axis harmonic reducer, and zero backlash. It is an upgraded version of the company’s entry-level Mirobot robotic arm introduced in 2019.

The Haro380 robotic arm will be programmable with Blockly visual programming, G-code, or Python using WLKATA Studio PC software for Windows or Ubuntu, WLKATA LAB mobile app for Android or iOS, and the company also provides WLKATA IOA Virtual Factory software tool that facilitates digital twin control of WLKATA robotic arms, including Haro380 and Mirobot, as well as over 100 robotic arms from other brands.

The high precision and repeatability of the robotic arm enable it to thread needles, perform “surgery”, solve jigsaw puzzles, and do racecar model assembly.  Other exciting features include magnetic end effectors that allow the robot to quickly change “heads” as needed, support for gesture control, and PLC programming through RS485 and ModBus.

WLKATA Robotics has launched the Haro380 on Kickstarter, as they did for the earlier Mirobot, with a $10,000 funding target that has already been easily surpassed. The higher precision, payload, and quality parts mean the price is also much higher with rewards starting at $3,599 for an early bird reward of the Haro380, and the retail price is expected to be $7,900. Optional add-ons include a $126 laser engraving head & protective cover case, a $360 conveyor belt set, a $592 sliding rail set, a $594 end effectors kit, $980 for the IOA Virtual Factory Software, and $2,275 for PLC Learning Station shown below.

Just a scaled down industrial robot and guess for training $2,275 for a PLC Learning Station is actually quite cheap even though its become a much more competitive market

The list price isn’t a good value compared to a real industrial robot such as Epson.

Oh, and $2275 will buy you a very nice PLC setup if you buy from Automation Direct, Panasonic, and similar or one of those RPi PLCs.
