Kimdecent B12 Rockchip RK3066 HDMI TV Dongle Features a 2MP Webcam

Kimdecent has added a new Rockchip RK3066 Android 4.1.1 mini PC to its offering. The device comes with 1GB RAM, 8GB Flash, Wi-Fi & Bluetooth connectivity, and a feature I’ve never seen in any other PC-on-a-stick: a 2 MP camera for video conferencing with Skype or Google talk.

Kimdecent B12Apart from the webcam, the rest of B12 specifications are very similar to MK808:

  • SoC – Rockchip RK3066 dual core Cortex A9 @ 1.6GHz + Mali400 quad core GPU
  • System Memory – 1GB RAM
  • Storage – 8GB ROM + microSD slot (up to 32GB)
  • Connectivity
    • WiFi 802.11/b/g/n 150Mbps
    • Build-in Bluetooth 2.1
  • USB – 1x Full Size USB 2.0 + 2x micro USB ports
  • Video Output – HDMI 1.4 output+ AV output
  • Camera – Build-in 2MP webcam
  • Audio I/O – Mic
  • Misc – Hardware Standby key, software power off key, and recovery hole.
  • Dimensions – 97.5 x 39.8 x 9.8mm
  • Weight – 42g

The package contains Kimdecent B13 Android Mini PC, a power supply, a USB Cable, an HDMI Cable, an OTG cable, an AV cable, an “hold” kit, and a user manual in English.Kimdecent B12 AccessoriesThe “hold” kit (there must be a better word) is used to hold the mini PC horizontally in order to use the webcam. I’m not sure how convenient this is compared to a standard USB webcam connected to a mini PC.

The firmware has been improved with software power off, and video playback is now full screen (Status bar hidden). This is the mini PC with the most features I’ve seen, and it costs $67.99 on Kimdecent shop on Aliexpress. I could not find it on other shops for now.

  1. The mic is also build in?
I couln’t understand it from the pictures.

I was looking for a device like this one but with audio I/O so I can connect a headset.

  2. Thanks for the laugh!

This isn’t going to be the device to take user experience of Chinese android devices to the next level (unless the next level is even worse than before). The camera placement is terrible. There is really no justification for a camera on one of these things. No amount of cables and “hold” kit (which doesn’t look like it will actually hold this thing) is going to change that.

Rather look upon the mk806/ak806/mp802 if you want to plug your headset in.

On this one the mic should have been at the extremity rather then in the middle like it is now since it can be blocked by your tv panel if plugged into the side of your tv…

@cnx: if physically you can plug av cable along the hdmi cable, will it be possible to use the av out for audio and while using simultaneously the hdmi for image?

  4. A part from kimdecent b12/NX003-II and mk806/ak806/mp802 there is a new rk3066 with analog output (here it’s 3.5mm headset) that is now available for the market, the one we can see in N Charbonnier video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HT21YIVBy80&feature=youtu.be

It just fell into amazon.com during last weekend but with small quantity. Amazon should received a little more soon. 55$ + 5$ for shipping: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AZR1TG2

At the eyes it seem more sturdy and well constructed from the outside and inside than the others. And the constructor as already sent a couple of new updates on its website http://www.timingpower.com/rk3066-android-mini-pc

If this device proves to be of better quality than the others maybe it’s a good idea to bump it at the head of cnx blog.

  5. I see this “thing” (product) a little strange, is not? I’m sure can find applications, but… strange to place the camera built-in there.

  6. @Slowstream
Just a little update on this one. The manufacturer told me it will be available soon on amazon an order can now be made through its website http://www.timingpower.com/rk3066-android-mini-pc

I was waiting for a good stick with audio out and I think this is it. Will definitely give this one a try…
