Ruach_A20_rear_PanelThis Android 4.2.2 TV Box comes with an IR remote control, an AV cable, a power adapter, and a user’s manual.

The manufacturer has a website in Chinese only, but I could find a page on Baidu where they share diverse firmware, tools, and APK for their devices. So it’s possible the firmware for the Ruach A20 device mentioned in this post is available for download, but bear in mind their are other boxes called “A20” on the company website, so make sure it’s the proper firmware if you ever plan, or have, to update.

I’ve tried to double check the price on Taobao, and I could not find this exact model, but the other Ruach A20 model sells for as low as 189 RMB (~$30 USD) with 4GB flash and 512 MB RAM.

  1. also they said this in description “Dominant frequency:2.0GHz” cortex-A7 is max 1.0GHz or am i wrong and they say qwerty keyboard but only show pic of ir remote

  2. it is cheaper then g-box mx2 (g18ref) but i doubt it will have halve the support and rom availability.

    what do you guys think

    For XBMC, there’s the VidOn.Me implementation: http://www.cnx-software.com/2014/05/10/vidon-me-updates-xbmc-source-code-for-their-allwinner-a20-and-a31-based-android-media-players/
But I’m not sure it works with other A20 boxes. I haven’t heard any feedback yet.

    “Dominant frequency: 2.0 GHz” is “clever” math: 2x ARM Cortex A7 @ 1 GHz = 2 GHz 😉
Qwerty keyboard = you can plug a USB keyboard

In terms of ROMs and support, you’ll probably be on your own.

    Tell me about it.
Sometimes I wonder also if it is a problem with the English Language,or if they are really shifty.
But after dealing with them for years I am starting to lean to the later.

  6. Hi. Maybe you can help me with my problem. I bought a noname Chinese SMART MEDIA PLAYER Mini PC resembling in appearance, features and technical details with this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dual-Core-Android-4-2-2-Smart-TV-Box-Pro-Media-Player-1080P-WIFI-HDMI-XBMC-YOUTU-/310953226142?_trksid=p2054897.l4275 . In one of the tests I’ve done I selected to display the last option. I do not know who it was (maybe you are kind and post a printscreen with sub display). Since then no longer see any HDMI or AV than the blackscreen. After booting enter blackscreen. Has a hole in the back where he is a reset button. I tried, by pressing all the variations. 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 30 seconds, until it starts ….. just managed to reset or get into recovery. Player have root by default. We could not do anything. Please help me. Maybe I’ll be able to make it up somehow someday. Thank you.

  8. Hello.
I have this box and want to flash the newest firmware but the baidu link is dead 🙁
The manufacturer send me mail with this links:

    XBMC Installer:
    http: // victsoftware.com/download/RH46-install%20software-Vidonme-xbmc.rar

    Brush software:
    http: // victsoftware.com/download/RH46.zip

    Tip inconsistent upgrade file:
    http://victsoftware.com/download/RH46-update-a20.zip

How can I flash the firmware???? The device don’t have a sd-card slot…. No resetbutton to go into recoverymode, …..

    Please help.
    Many thanks

    P.S.
The Logitech Keyboard K400r don’t work. Is there a solution to make it work?

  9. @Rappi

    To flash the firmware:
    1) ucompress the RH46.zip file
    2) go inside, you will see an IMG file (the rom image) and a ZIP file with the flash card software. Unzip this file.
    3) got an micro SD card.
    4) open the box, it’s easy using whatever mobile fix kit. or a thinner plain unscrew, just put between the top of the box and the body and press.. it’s easy to open. My advice start doing from the front where the IR reader is.
    5) you will see a card reader in the bottom left corner.
    6) using the flash card software provided, format the sd card and then burn the image. it’s easy.
    7) insert the SD card into the box reader and turn on.
    8) the software will start to install the new firmware. When it’s done will turn off the device.
    9) take out the sd card and turn on the device….. cross finger…
    10) the box will start normally with new welcome screen and totally functional.

    Good luck!!

  10. HOW THE HELL DO I FLASH THIS PIECE OF SHIT? I HAVE HAD A FEW ANDROID BOXES, BUT NEVER HAVE I COME ACROSS ONE LIKE THIS. ALL I GET IF I TRY GOING INTO RECOVERY MODE IS A GREEN BAR THAT COMPLETES AFTER 30 SECONDS THEN THE BOX JUST BOOTS AS NORMAL.
