Xiaomi Mi Box (International) is one of the recommended TV boxes as it runs the official Android TV OS with support for Netflix and Amazon Prime HD/4K, and normally sells around $60.
But Banggood currently has a promotion until July 24, 2018, where it offers the TV box for just $49.99 shipped. Stocks are limited to around 100 units for this promotion however.
The device was released in 2016, so a little reminder of the specifications is in order:

The TV box was launched in 2016 with Android TV 6.0, and AFAIK it should still be running this version of the operating system, as the Android 8 Oreo firmware has been pulled out – and back to beta – due to issues.

In case you’ve missed the Xiaomi Mi Box promotion, there’s another promotion for Mecool M8S box that claims to be running Android TV 8.0 and certified by Google. Price: $59.99 until July 29th with GBKM8 coupon. The promotion only starts on July 23rd apparently.

The Oreo Update is not halted. There are issues, but this week there was an update, which fixed a few of them
So maybe they’ve stopped doing OTA update to Android 8 for users that I had not updated to it yet.

Most recent Oreo 8.0 build 2174 was under internal testing for a while. Is currently on public OTA rollout worldwide and incorporates a number of high priority bug fixes.
Further incremental bug fix build will be deployed to internal beta test group in coming week and ultimately will make its way to general public via OTA.
It should be noted this Amlogic S905X-H SOC is the exact same used in the recently released Google ADT-2 developer reference design. Seems to be holding up rather well for an ‘antique’.
