QC-MINI QC 2.0/3.0 USB fast charging board sells for $2

QC-MINI is a USB fast charging board that can take 6V to 32V DC input from a power source such as solar panel, and outputs 3 to 12V via a USB port using QC 2.0/3.0 and other fast charging standards.

The board can be useful to implement fast charging in any project, and it won’t break the bank as I’ve just come accross the module on IC Station for just $1.99.

QC 3.0 charging module

Typical applications would include solar panel to mobile phone charging, car charging retrofit, driving recorder power supply, and “household power supply transformation”. The $2 price tag initially looked really inexpensive to me, but afer looking for QC-MINI on Aliexpress, I failed to find the board there, but realized QC 3.0 car chargers – for example – are equally cheap going for less than $3 shipped. It remains to be seen whether those cheap QC 3.0 hardware platform do work as advertised.

  1. 32955045499 on AliExpress =1.35
    32955063881 on AliExpress =1.29
    32947655155 on AliExpress =1.15
Search phrase is “USB QC3.0 DC DC”

  2. I’m curious how it performs when connected to a dumb sink, like a rpi or similar. Also didn’t find any clue about USB PD, which might be interesting for SBCs with USB C, if properly supported.

  3. Bah all the boards are without the holes one could use to fasten them into some kind of enclosure.. e.g take 10 of them and a power supply and use this in small production line to charge batteries

    1. You could probably build a little holder with some nylon pins into a sheet of plastic and have the pins hold the board by the edges. If you’re using the USB port those output holes could also be used as mounting holes.

  4. I am thinking about building a smart docking station using 5 to 6 of this step down boards, a Bluetooth 4.2 aptx enable audio receiver and small stereo amp. All needs 16v to run. Can anyone suggest to me a good psu that provide power for all this components and won’t break my budget… Charging station will charge 2x huawei p10,Samsung s9, linx tablet and power bank so I want to use separate boards for every usb port to make sure that ports are working with right protocol and delivery adequate current to each device… Sorry for my bad English
