The company says supported operating systems include Windows 7/8.1/10/11, macOS 10.14.6 or later, iPadOS 12.4 or greater, iOS 17 or later, Android, Linux, and Harmony OS, but since it should follow USB standards any OS with USB support should work.

But the highlight of the Dockcase USB-C dock is really its integrated information display. The illustration below gives us an overview of its main features with system temperature, USB PD information, USB-C and/or HDMI display resolution and framerate, which USB ports are connected and at what speed, and whether SD card slots are used.

Dockcase display configuration

There’s also a function page for settings such as screen saver timing and fan speed, a power configuration window, and an HDMI configuration section with EDID and other information. It would be great to have a user manual showing the full details, but I could not find any.

Dockcase has been making this type of hardware for a little while and has various USB-C docks and external SSD drives with an integrated display. You can find more details on the company’s website or even purchase some of the devices, as well as in Charbax’s video below which first brought the Dockcase 7-in-1 USB-C dock to our attention.

The 7-in-1 Dockcase is not available on the company’s store just yet, but has recently launched on Indiegogo with a $1,000 flexible goal and so far close to $10,00 raised from about 120 backers. Rewards start at $69 for the “super early bird” and $79 for the “early bird”, and we’re told the retail price should be $109. Shipping adds $19 here (to Thailand) and backers should expect their perks to ship by January 2024.

  1. Shame they’re including an old 100W limited cable with a new product. Also very overpriced considering the display is just a novelty feature.

  2. Very pretty, but mostly of interest for someone fine tuning the aesthetics of their desk setup. Nothing wrong with that of course.
I bought a USB cord that shows W of power delivery. It’s neat, but the info is not really used for any purpose by me.
