Raspberry Pi CM3 “Industrial IoT” baseboard features PoE, 4G LTE modem, and isolated I/Os

Raspberry Pi CM3+ PoE 4G LTE

The Raspberry Pi Computer Module 4 (CM4) may have been introduced in October, but that does not mean people have stopped all development on Raspberry Pi CM3/CM3+ hardware, and Waveshare has just launched a carrier board for the module with PoE support and a 4G LTE modem namely Simcom SIM7600G-H module with 3G and 2G fallback. The board also offers Ethernet and WiFi connectivity, HDMI and MIPI CSI/DSI video interfaces, multiple USB ports, as well as isolated CAN bus, RS485, RS232, and other I/Os for industrial applications. Compute Module PoE 4G board specifications: Storage – MicroSD card slot for Raspberry Pi CM3 Lite / CM3+ Lite modules Video Output – HDMI 2.0 port, MIPI DSI connector compatible with the official Raspberry Pi display Audio – 3.5mm stereo audio jack, 4-pin speaker connector for 8Ω/5W speaker Camera I/F – 2x independent MIPI CSI ports Connectivity 10/100M Ethernet RJ45 port with PoE […]

Reolink RLC-810A review – A 4K security camera with people & vehicle detection

Reolink RLC-810A Review

Last week I received Reolink RLC-810A 4K smart security camera with support for people and vehicle detection. I listed the specifications and check out the content of the package of the first security camera I’ve received with artificial intelligence. That should be great to avoid all unnecessary alerts from motion detection I get from my “dumb” IP cameras. In this review, I’ll write a small guide showing how to use the camera with the Reolink app, the web interface, and check out RTSP and ONVIF support. I’ll also see if people and vehicle detection lives up to my expectations. Reolink RLC-810A Camera installation and setup As noted in the first part of the review, the camera does not come with a power adapter and does not support WiFi. So I had to find a 12V power adapter and used a 15-meter Ethernet cable to connect it to my router. Before […]

Reolink RLC-810A Smart 4K PoE IP Camera Specifications and Unboxing

Reolink RLC-810A Smart 4K PoE Camera Review

I have reviewed two Reolink WiFi IP cameras in recent years: Reolink Argus Eco and Reolink Argus PT. Both are powered by solar panels, and they’ve been running at home for many months, but there are many false positives, or on the contrary, sometimes the PIR sensor fails to detect people. What would solve this is built-in AI into those surveillance cameras. The good news is that Reolink RLC-810A does just that with the ability to detect persons and/or vehicles, so you would not receive a notification because some bird or insect flew in front of the camera.  I’ve just received a review sample, so I’ll part by listing the specs and features, and unboxing the package to see what the camera looks like, and check out included accessories. Reolink RLC-810A specifications Video & Audio Image Sensor – 1/2.49″ CMOS Sensor Video Resolution – 3840×2160 (8.0 Megapixels) at 25 frames/sec […]

Tiny Rock Pi S SBC gets PoE & audio HAT add-on board

Rock Pi S PoE HAT

Powered by a Rockchip RK3308 quad-core Cortex-A35 processor, Radxa Rock Pi S single board computer was launched with specifications listing PoE support via an add-on board. Just one little problem though: it was not available for sale. The good news is that Radxa has now launched a PoE HAT for the Linux SBC adding support for 802.3af PoE up to 10W input, making it one of the smallest single board computers with PoE support in the world, and adding audio features with a 3.5mm audio jack, and an FPC connector for a microphone array. It can be purchased on Seeed Studio for $13.00. Here are the specifications of the complete solution with Rock Pi S SBC and PoE HAT: SoC – Rockchip RK3308 quad-core Arm Cortex-A35 processor @ up to 1.3 GHz with built-in Voice Activity Detector (VAD) System Memory – 512MB RAM Storage – 1GB SD NAND flash, MicroSD […]

PoE FeatherWing Brings PoE, Unique MAC Address to Adafruit Feather Boards (Crowdfunding)

PoE FeatherWing

[Update: In the initial version of this post, Giant Board was wrongly attributed to Silicognition LLC (Patrick Van Oosterwijck). It was actually made by Groguard] Silicognition LLC (Patrick Van Oosterwijck)’s PoE FeatherWing is an expansion board that adds PoE support to Adafruit Feather boards and can handle up to 4 Watts of power. The expansion board also comes with a built-in globally unique MAC address. It’s similar to the official Ethernet FeatherWing, but with the addition of PoE and a unique MAC address. PoE FeatherWing key hardware features and specifications: WIZnet W5500 Ethernet controller up to ~13 Mbps Microchip 24AA02E48 2 Kbit serial EEPROM with built-in globally unique MAC address to avoid having to change and recompile the code for each device. Power Isolated IEEE 802.3at Class 1, Mode A and Mode B Power over Ethernet (PoE) with up to 4W of output power available via an RJ45 Ethernet port […]

Ryzen Embedded SBC is Made for Real-time AI Vision, Conveyor Belt Tracking

MIRU130 Ryzen Embedded-SBC Real-time AI Vision Conveyor Belts

Axiomtek just recently introduced CAPA13R AMD Ryzen Embedded V1605B/V1807B SBC in 3.5″ embedded SBC form factor, and the company is now back with another, larger Ryzen Embedded SBC: Axiomtek MIRU130. Why would they launch yet another Ryzne Embedded board two weeks later? Different applications. While CAPA13R targets various graphics-intensive applications ranging from medical imaging to smart digital signage, MIRU130 appears to be especially focused on real-time vision-based AI applications with PoE and USB ports for cameras, and integrated “real-time vision I/Os” such as trigger inputs, LED lighting controllers, camera trigger outputs and an encoder input designed for conveyor tracking. MIRU130 SBC specifications: SoC (One or the other) – AMD Ryzen Embedded V1807B or V1605B quad-core processor with Radeon Vega 8 graphics; V1807B: 35-54W TDP; V1605B: 12-25W TDP System Memory – 2x 240-pin DDR4-2400 SO-DIMM, up to 16GB RAM Storage 1x SATA-600 1x M.2 Key B (SATA, USB 2.0, PCIe x2 […]
