The device will run Android 5.1 as on other Amlogic S905 TV boxes, but likely with the usual MINIX user interface. It’ one of the Amlogic S905 TV box with the highest specifications on the market, and similar to Ugoos AM1, but with Bluetooth 4.1 support, an extra USB OTG port, and a Kensington lock.

    The extra 1GB RAM and 8GB Storage is responsible for the increase in price.
    But for $129 you can just as well get a RK3288 box with a faster CPU & GPU that can also play 10-bit 4K HEVC videos.

    Eg, UGOOS UT3S or HPH NT-V6(has the same board and can use the same firmware as UT3S, has no fan but cheaper)
    UGOOS just released Lollipop Light Biz OS for their RK3288 boxes, one of the most stable Android boxes you can buy apart from the Nvidia Shield which is more expensive. Even 1 1/2 years after their tv box releases they are still pumping out firmware updates and helping users. http://www.cnx-software.com/2015/11/25/android-5-1-firmware-for-rockchip-rk3288-tv-boxes-by-ugoos-and-cloudnetgo/#comment-504630

    Eg. UGOOS, HPH NT-V6 tv boxes get a 42000-44000 score in Antutu
    S905 Boxes get around 29000-34000 score.

    I would rank
    1. Nvidia Shield
    2. UGOOS UT3(S) / HPH NT-V6
    3. MINIX tv boxes
    4. INPHIC tv boxes
    99. Acemax, Eny tv boxes

  3. Seems like a solid TV box. Good specs plus nice design and (I hope) quality built. If the price gets under 100$ then it would be bang for the deal.

  4. @Nb68
    Yes, RK3288 uses Cortex-A17, the Performance up 50% compared with A9 and A7, and support multi-window performance.

    Cloudnetgo CR13 is with RK3288 chipset and support 2MP webcamera.

  5. I was going for MINIX z64A but seeing this U1…. Is it worth it to wait for the new U1? Your opinions about CPU, emmc, GPU, network…? Thanks in advance

  6. @walt664
    I’ve asked about this last week (as well as DRM and Kodi support), but no answer so far.
    So I guess we need to wait for reviews.

    @N7jesus
    Z64A processor will be much faster. Network will be faster on Neo U1 (Gigabit Ethernet). Not sure about the others. U1 supports 4K, Z64A not.

    Long time ago… I know… but now I’m a little bit back into the game 😉
    a.)Because of the “42000-44000 score in Antutu” for the RK3288, are you sure that these values aren’t a fake? I think so, but, because I don’t own a RK3288, I can’t be sure, but in the past, MINIX was one of the only manufactures (especially at the AML’s) which doesn’t fake the value 🙂
    b.) because of your ranking please don’t forget the quality of the HW at MINIX (in my view, significantly better than many other manufactures, for example: MLC!! eMMC 5.0 Storage, larger heat-sink, good case/housing etc.) and the SW support is also nice (eg continuous F.O.T.A (Firmware-Over-The-Air))….

    @eric
    Hi 🙂

    @cnxsoft
    Are you sure about the better performance of the Intel Z3735F at the MINIX Z64A?
    Ok, at the past I was focused at the Z64W (8.1 Bing), but I have to say, the Intel Z3735F is OK, but the performance isn’t really high, but anyway, I have to ask my self why I need 64Bit at Android, but maybe I will find it out the next days with my NEO U1 😉
    All in all I have to say, I prefer the video quality of the AML’s.

  8. PS

    @mo123 (and all)
    Shit 😉 of course I have RK3288 (more than one) but not the “new” RK3368… as I wrote, Long time ago… 🙂
    and these AnTuTu values at this SoC (RK3288) are faked but compared with the AML S8xx the GPU at the RK3288 is much more powerful eg. at gaming… …
