Estone MJ-100 10.1″ Rugged Tablet is Equipped with Rockchip RK3399 Processor, a Barcode Scanner

Launched several years ago, Rockchip RK3399 is now a mature platform found in Chromebooks, some laptops, SBCs, and various other products. Estone Technology offers something a little different with MJ-100 rugged tablet with a 10.1″ display, IP65 waterproof rating, MIL-STD-810G shock & drop resistance, as well as ESD protection.

The Android 7.1 tablet also comes with up to 4GB RAM, up to 256GB flash storage, 4G LTE connectivity, GPS / GLONASS support, and some unique features like sealed IO ports, an optional 1D/2D barcode reader, or an optional medical grade power supply.

RK3399 Rugged Tablet Barcode ReaderThe tablet runs Android 7.1, and ships with a power supply, and optionally a docking port to use as a panel PC. The display also comes with AR (anti-reflective), AG (anti-glare) and AF (anti-fingering) coating, and anti-microbial coating is also offered as an option. The tablet particularly targets transportation, logistics, and field services.

The company has just announced test samples of the Estone MJ-100 tablet are now available, and ready for review / evaluation.   1. I think the A53 are at 1.4 and not 1.8 GHz, as 1.8 GHz operation requires significant over-voltage.

    With this said, this could make a nice tablet for home usage. Two A72 cores mean that a browser is expected to be at least usable, and being rugged implies that you care less about the risk of it falling from the sofa on the floor, or kids throwing it at each other’s face. I expect it will not be cheap though.

    1. The RK3399 would also most likely burn a hole in the plastic housing, as at full load, it gets scorching hot.
      On top of that, this tablet is likely to have very poor battery life, as it’s not a power efficient chip.

      1. A normal heatpipe seems to address the ‘scorcing hot’ issue in the ASUS c101pa quite adequately. Whether that would be an option for this entry-level tablet is yet to be seen.

        1. given the tablet’s thickness, I think that even a full-width, full-length thermal plate to spread the heat into the bottom’s surface would work reasonably well.
