Cavli Wireless C42GM module offers cellular IoT and Sigfox connectivity, optional GNSS and CAN Bus

Selecting an LPWAN IoT module usually means selecting a particular LPWAN standard, but Cavli Wireless C42GM global IoT module combines LTE Cat M1 and NB-IoT (NB1/NB2) cellular IoT connectivity with Sigfox for “use cases that need the hybrid LPWAN approach”.

The module also comes with optional GNSS for asset tracking and/or time synchronization and there’s also a variant that adds CAN FD wired communication. The C42GM module can also be fitted with an eSIM (embedded SIM) pre-loaded global connectivity.

There’s also optional support for “OpenSDK”, but I could not find details, and it’s unclear why it would be optional unless that just means customers can opt to customize the firmware or simply use the default firmware. Cavli Wireless can also provide an IoT Device Development Kit (DDK) for the C42GM module.

The modules can be managed remotely through the Cavli Hubble proprietary Connectivity as a Service (CaaS) cloud platform for global cellular data subscription management, module &
modem management. Target applications include fleet management and asset tracking, health monitoring, and point-of-sales.

Both the C42GM cellular IoT and Sigfox module and DDK appear to be available now, but you’d need to ask for a quote to get pricing information. More details may be found on the product page and the press release, and the company will also showcase the solution at Embedded World 2022.

Thanks to TLS for the tip.
