Mediakek MT6589 processors are omni-present in the latest Chinese smartphones, and we can see new models based on the platform pop-up every week. This Low End Android Tablet Comes with a (Non-Removable) Stand with Speaker

The tablet shown below has pretty low specifications with an AllWinner A13 SoC, 512 MB RAM, 4GB, a 7″ 800×480 display, and a not so attractive price. Bluestacks GamePop Mini is a Free Android Game Console (with Subscription)

The price of Android media devices keep getting lower months after months, and one company, BlueStacks, has gone a step further and decided to provide their GamePop Mini Android game console for free (excluding shipping), as long as you take a $6.99 monthly game subscription for a least a year. This is where I usually list the specifications, but today I’m just unable to do so, as there aren’t any. We just know the GamePop mini is less powerful than the company’s $129 GamePop, but it “will be able to handle all of your favorite apps and games plenty well, and there may also be more peripherals available for the GamePop.” GamePop specifications aren’t available either, but I guess the GamePop Mini might come with a dual core processor, and the GamePop will a quad core processor. JW-11 Android or Linux Media Player Supports Internal 2.5″ Hard Drive

If you’re not simply watching movie streamed from the Internet, one way to store your media files is in a NAS, and another way is to store directly into your media player with an Hard drive. Unless you run a SAMBA or NFS server within your media player, you may lose the ability to access your files from several devices, but by playing directly from the hard drive, you are sure any video will be played smoothly. There are few low cost set-top box that support SATA, and the ones that do, such as Mele A1000 and its successors, simply offer an external SATA connector leaving your hard drive without protection from dust. Linaro 13.06 Release With Linux Kernel 3.10 and Android 4.2.2

Linaro 13.06 has been released with Linux Kernel 3.10-rc6 and Android 4.2.2. Linux Linaro Stable (LSK) preview is based on kernel 3.9.6. There seems to have been a lot of activity for the LAVA and Builds and Integration teams, with LAVA support for new SoC such as Huawei K3V2 and Broadcom Capri from 2 companies which have recently joined Linaro as members, and well as continuous build for Linaro Stable Kernel. On the kernel side, more work has been done for multi-platform support (unified kernel), uprobes, eMMC power mamangement, and more. Ethernet & USB Hub Combo for Android Mini PCs

The first time I saw a USB & Ethernet hub was the one that comes with SmartCandy mini PC, but I never thought of checking if they sold such item separately until this morning, as I’ve noticed that Asiapads is selling a “Zero Devices Hub” with 3 USB 2.0 ports and a 10/100M Ethernet RJ45 connector. Of course, you could always get a standard USB hub plus an external Ethernet USB dongle, but an all-in-one solution maybe more convenient for some people. Zero Device Hub sells for $14.99, and is said to be compatible with Android mini PCs such as Z4C and Z2C. I’ve also looked on DealExtreme, and there’s one device with the same features for $11.90, but according to users’ reviews it’s not compatible with Android.
